Clean original Gen 2 GTS's will always be a good one to have.
BTW, All 1999 ACR engines (motors) are cast aluminum (like all Vipers). Only the pistons were forged.
This is an OLD thread, but in case anyone has the same issue it would be worth checking the reverse light switch on the trans. If that switch goes out (which is pretty common) it will turn the ABS & BRAKE light on in the message center (dash) if you have a 2001 or 2002 Viper with ABS.
Are you thinking of buying a used Viper and want to know what year Viper is best for you? Or are you a current Viper owner and curious about some of the options and running changes from year to year? This is a 1996 to 2002 Gen 2 Dodge Viper Buyer's Guide video I made to help answer some of...
The Blue & White hammered at $84,700 with buyers fee.
The 98 GTS-R only brought $95,700 after the fee.
The 95 Yellow RT/10 $46,200 after fee.
And the Black 2000 ACR came in at $85,800 with fee.
Anyone going to the Mecum auction in Dallas this weekend? Some really neat Vipers look to be going on the block at no reserve. I would love to be able to buy that GTS-R. That has been a dream car for me for a long time...
Those look to be stock heat shields and I don't think any after market headers can fit under them. Depending on the year, the factory did use tubular headers. Not as good as the after market ones, but did save some weight.
Easy to see if the ABS works. Like I said, find a place safe and see if the brakes lock up. My ABS works great, and I was just suggesting something to consider if everything is working and no more codes but the light is still on.
Good luck with the fix.
My ABS light is on and the ABS works perfectly. The tech found the wire to be broke that turns the light off, but the rest of the system is really working fine. Just a thought.
Check if the ABS works by finding a safe place to jump on the brakes.
The lights comes on during start up by default and when the system checks okay it turns it off. If the wire has been compromised or damaged the system will still work but the light will stay on. Just a thought.
Might have been able to make some money on this car as Tony was offering a VERY good deal, but I sold it for exactly what Tony sold it to me for. Even sent the new owner a free shifter and I think Tony was offering to install it for free too. Viper owners are the best!
I wasn't looking to...
LOL, I was wondering how long it would take for someone here to find the ebay listing! :) You guys don't miss much.
I put the car on ebay. My wife and I are thinking about doing a "large" home remodel and the garage space will be very limited for the next two years as we add a 4,100 SF dream...
My plan was to fly out to the East Coast next week and buy a 1970 real deal "R" code Hemi Challenger that I've have been talking to the owner about. That got me thinking that why would I spend over 100K on more old cars that don't handle well, don't corner well, and brake like crap. I already...
