Yes. There year code is part of the VIN on the engine.
It will be on the engine on the pass. side near the back of the motor up on a pad. You most likely will need to be under the car to see it and you will need a mirror and a flashlight. The last eight numbers are on the pad in a dot matrics...
Just look at the VIN on the motor to see if it's they rebuilt the oringinal. It's some what tuff to see and you'll need to be under the car with a light and a mirror.
