Check the hood to bumper gaps. Can be a real pain to get right.
Other than that I can’t think of any viper specific things to look out for. The engines are pretty bullet proof. So is the trans. Pay attention to clutch feel. If it feels soft or engages really close to the floor you’re probably...
Sorry for this thread as I know there are hundreds of them but all the old photos are gone. I have abhorrent gap between the front corner of the hood and the bumper. Excellent gap between the hood lip and the bumper. Good gaps all the rest of the way around.
Anyone know what I would adjust to...
Quick update on this. Found a factory service manual supplement for the 99acr that specifies setting the springs at 9.125 inches from spring seat to spring seat. Doing so puts me at 4” in the front. Can’t go any lower than that or the front spring pops way out of the seat unloaded.
My rear...
No ABS isn’t really an issue with good tires and stock brakes imo. I doubt you’ll lock them up on the street with a modern tire. Even if you do, I have the Stoptech big brake kit and have purposely locked my brakes up and the car brakes very straight still.
Frankly I believe these cars need...
Use a good 75w-90, just avoid GL5 rated fluids. I used anything I had on the shelf, 2qts redline GL4, 1qt BG synchroshift, 1qt auto trans fluid. Figured the auto trans fluid would add a little detergent capability to the mix and balance out the thicker synchroshift. A manual trans is very simple...
Congrats. get your bushings replaced, relatively cheap and the car will handle like it’s supposed to. Then get a good alignment.
You’ve probably seen it but they make a really nice Apple CarPlay retrofit radio for the gen iii
Selling it, if you want it shoot me an offer before I toss it on eBay
I’ll warn you if you want a shifter that centers you’ll need stronger springs for it though.
One inch on the ipsco is barely less than a quarter inch down from stock height apparently because the ipsco sits up higher than stock so it’s about stock height.
Shocks are going to performance shock in Ohio. Talked to them on the phone and they have rebuilt plenty of the ACR 2812 shocks.
Ipsco is in. I love it, worlds better than the hurst it replaced. It actually centers and it shifts much, much more smoothly. Only thing I regret is going with the 1” drop instead of the 2” drop kit. The 1” drop is still a little high for my tastes, I might pull it out and get the 2”.
Got about...
Truthfully right now, with prices where they are, you could probably pick up a higher mileage gen ii for $55k and a mid mileage gen v for $115k or so and be into two of them for less than $175k
Will do from now on. Unfortunately one still needs to be rebuilt as the ring just spins around and never hits the stop, so I might as well get them all done. Don’t want one new rebuilt shock and three 25 year old ones, seems like a recipe for imbalance.
Well I got the ride height adjusted to my liking but it looks like I will be sending the shocks out to be rebuilt as the adjustment rings are frozen. the bump/rebound rings are stuck solid on every shock but one, and that one just spins and spins without stopping so it’s obviously broken. There...
