    Slow cooling fan

Its definitely tough to screw up, and yes, that routing is proper. That said, without having seen any of it, there is no guarantee its even all original... which could introduce who-knows-what problems if so.

    Slow cooling fan

Look inside the reservoir with the engine idling. Can you see PS fluid moving/frothing? There is a good amount of flow in steady-state idle, regardless of downstream pass-through conditions. If you see nothing moving, you arent moving any fluid anywhere in the first place. That also begs the...

    Slow cooling fan

Learn how to properly service it, use the proper fluids, and don't run into things... and you have a slim chance of that happening. But if you're hell-bent on Electric, just mix some ATF+4 and PS fluid together. That speeds up the failure nicely :smirk:

    Broken fan - What Now

Blades ONLY. Shrouds of course differ, and motor configurations and valving also appear to differ between versions.

    Broken fan - What Now

What you aren't factoring in, is that the same blade is used on all versions of the hydraulic fan, whether in a Viper or not. The other versions, are generally much cheaper, and all over the place. I wouldn't doubt if you could find one in your local wrecking yards.

    Slow cooling fan

Really? Did you even read the part about not having power steering and the car being bought with nothing from the steering system or fan system and it having to be pieced together, with every part of the system being questionable as a result? Or did you just skip to the "hydraulic bad!"...

    Broken fan - What Now

You mean Downgrade. Ask all those Ram SRT-10 guys how those electric conversions worked out for them.

    Slow cooling fan

Does your fan "idle" when the engine is running? Hydraulic fans are always idling at a slow speed. If not, I suspect you have a pump issue as you are building no pressure to idle the fan or actuate the rack.

    Broken fan - What Now

You need to buy another unit, and steal the blade assembly from it. There are usually motor or shroud damaged systems floating around Ebay or Salvage with good blades.

    The blades are replaceable.

    Broken fan - What Now

Hydraulic fan motors are literally contained in every piece of heavy equipment out there, and any heavy-duty application out there where direct drive is either undesired or impossible. And yes, the design of a motor is very similar to a pump, in the same way that an electric motor and...

Gen 3 vs Gen 4 Differential

Before I throttled back, someone was working on getting the 5/6 for the T56. No clue if it ever happened or not. It should be possible, but nobody was selling them back then. The TR6060 gearsets I keep in stock.

Engine Computer Programmed Plug&Play 2003-06 Dodge Viper SRT-10

This guy has already been through at least two shops, including us. I already told him exactly what he needs... and haven't heard back.

Gen 3 vs Gen 4 Differential

For what its worth... anyone with a TR6060 should be sticking with 3.07, and changing 5/6 in the trans. Keeps 1-4 usable, and fixes 5/6 only.

    Broken fan - What Now

Yep, they sure did, for the big engine towing package equipped vehicles. It eliminated the cooling system issues without penalty. Let's be honest, the world has changed... NOW. With the advent of Electric Assist steering racks in New vehicles, deletion of Hydraulic power steering systems, and...

    Broken fan - What Now

You can do what you want... but if you think that a single O-Ring that seeps every 10-15 years is more problematic than 2 relays, 2 motors and a bunch of wiring... you would be mistaken. Complication? Its literally ONE extra hydraulic hose, ONE rubber line, and a Motor assembly different from...

    Broken fan - What Now

Cost, not performance. Simple as that. Leaking issues are blown way, Way, WAY out of proportion. 30 minute fix every 10-15 years if you know what you are doing... but courtesy of morons who dont, they become disasters, and the system gets blamed for the incompetence of techs and owners. I have...

And that may also be why its not showing up. "much cheaper" and "G3 Hydraulic Fan" no longer go in the same sentence.

Gen 3 vs Gen 4 Differential

Yes, you are correct. You would need to either bring the G5 shafts along for the ride as well, or R&R the flanges and put G4 stubs in the unit for use on G3 shafts. IMO... use the G5 shafts and upgrade the whole thing at once.

Gen 3 vs Gen 4 Differential

Either jump to a Gen-5 Diff [GKN Visco + 3.55] or put a Wavetrac and 3.55 in your G3 housing. Dont bother with the HydraLok at all, and G4 GKN is still 3.07

Gen 3 vs 4 blocks and cranks

ehhhhhh They fit, *IF* you bore and hone the cylinders. *IF* you clearance the oil gallery on certain years. *IF* you change the flywheel bolts. *IF* you add the alignment dowel for 03/04. *IF* you add the crankshaft position sensor for 03/04. Not exactly my definition of "fit". It...

Need to vent! Suspension and shop frustrations!

Cross-Post from VA: I see this from both sides, but the fact is, that a business is in business to make money. Bringing your own parts means they are doing the same work and taking the same risks for far less than half the profit as if they supplied everything. To add insult to injury, BC is a...

Blade is balanced. Motor is not. Shaft diameter is insignificant from a balance standpoint.
  24. Viper Specialty

    Broken fan - What Now

Hydraulic Fan is far superior. It has a bad reputation due to the sheer number of techs and owners who dont understand it and/or half-ass repairs or do other stupid stuff, and end up creating problems that never would have occurred otherwise... combined with bogus tune files, overspeed issues...
