    A leak down test to locate a cracked cylinder or blown head gasket can and should be done at BDC. Just let the air push the piston down and take the reading. You only need to have the piston at TDC when measuring ring seal.

    I'm taking a slightly different approach. I bought a spare set of Viper wiper arms and a set for something else with the common shepperd's hook blade attachment. Going to cut and weld.

    So I decided to check my compression and here is what I got..........

    Those results look fine, well within 10% Viper cylinders are numbered correctly (unlike Fords) front to back. Since the left bank is farther forward, cylinder 1 and all other odd cylinders are on the left side.

    Exhaust leaks work both ways, depending on where it's at in the firing order and RPM, it will allow exhaust to escape as well as pull air in.

    A lower brake pedal is an indicator of a bad wheel bearing also. A slightly wobbling rotor will push the pads away from the disc.

    Transmission noise usually drops considerably in 4th gear since it's 1:1 and the gears aren't loaded. Yours sound like it could be a wheel bearing.
