I understand what you are talking about here, and that's exactly what I'm trying to say (again, my opinion only): people aren't really looking for a standalone option (at least not me). It just sucks compared to being able to harness the computing power (and sensors) already on board. The...
Priced similarly? Of course not, but at the same time, I'd at least hope it is in the same ball park. To me, $4k-$5k isn't in the same ball park. That's more along the lines of an order of magnitude different.
Keep in mind that I don't have any intent to put a blower/turbo/nitrous on my Gen 4, so I'm likely not your intended market.
That said, to me, my ceiling is the price of the Mopar PCM + install, which is already too high. I think people really want to be able to use the power that already...
I'll take a stab at some of these:
- I prefer the 2006+ coupe to the convertible soft-top, are there any other major differences between the years?
2006 was the first year for the coupe in the SRT-10, and generally they command a higher price (lower supply). There were no 2007 cars, so...
My thoughts: a longer, faster track will make HP a bigger factor in lap times. If you can't use all of the available power because you run out of room, then it does you no good.
If anything, I think it is a testament to how well-rounded a Viper is that it can do better than a Corvette on a...
In case you don't want to watch the whole video to see the times:
SRT Viper - 01:23.9
Corvette Stingray - 01:24.6
Nissan GT-R - 01:25.2
Porsche 911 Carrera S - 01:25.6
Porsche Cayman S - 01:27.0
Shelby GT500 - 01:27.3
BMW M3 Coupe - 01:29.0
Plenty of people give a crap how many spots others take up...if you park way out in a parking lot and take up multiple spots, it draws attention to yourself (and your vehicle). There are a lot of people in this world that just enjoy screwing with others and watching them squirm, knowing that...
If you don't want attention, a Viper isn't for you...people don't see them very often, so you'll find that you have people following/pacing/waving at you fairly regularly. I've had people pace me on the interstates for miles on end...just comes with the territory. I don't care for all of the...
640HP out of an 8.4L naturally aspirated engine while remaining noise and emissions compliant ain't bad at all.
I think people expected another 95-100HP increase like there was between the Gen 3 and 4, but there's only so much you can do with a naturally aspirated engine that can still be...
I'll pipe up...I've only been a member for 1.5 years, so I don't really have any loyalty to anyone, regardless of what forum they're on.
From where I sit, no one will be getting my money next year until this settles out...there's too much "he said, she said" BS going on right now with the VCA...
Random design question: did you guys do a lot of iterations to figure out which order to bring the primary tubes into the collector, or did you already know this going in? Or does it even really matter?
Random thought: are you sure you're getting a full tank of gas when you fill up? I only ask because every time I fill up, I put the nozzle in just like everyone else with the handle facing down. Once it stops, I've found that if I turn the nozzle upside down, I can squeeze in an extra 3-4...
The Gen 4 and Gen 5 motors are very similar - the extra 40 HP comes from the combination of slightly larger intake lobe on the cam (I think they also changed the installed centerline), more aggressive tune allowed by the forged pistons, and the composite intake manifold (which will bolt on to a...
I had to let it spray/drip down for the most part...there was some that came out of the end that I got into a squished up solo cup, but the rest dripped internal to the bell housing and exited through the bottom.

You can change only 6th gear in the TR-6060 transmission (5th and 6th gears are separate pieces instead of a cluster like they were in the T-56). RPM transmissions is just one state away from you in...

Only one question from me: will it work for a Gen 4? Looks like something that would come in very handy if so...
All multi-viscosity oils "thicken" as they warm up, but they don't actually thicken at all when warm...they just don't thin out as much as a straight weight oil would under the same conditions. 0w40 flows just like water when draining it during an oil change.
You do have a good point...
