More oil yes. Not sure about the less windage part though. I don't think the oil level goes any lower with the deeper pan as the deepness is just for the extra capacity. Also, on both versions there is a baffle/windage tray both mounted to the oil pan as well as the bottom of the crank with...
If he scribed a lower mark on the dipstick then that would defeat the purpose of installing the deeper pan to achive higher capacity.
Take a pic if your pan and post here. Looking at it we can tell you wich one of the two it is. Also, can tell by the part number on it.
I hope that someone capable of setting up a supercharger on a car would be able to figure out how to swap out a steering wheel :-)
I personally don't see any reason to shop for a Gen1 if you can afford a Gen2. Besides the 50hp diff, take a look at both of them on a lift and you can clearly...
I remember talking to the boss of the shop who was contracted to produce that magnificent piece at the Gen5 unveiling in NYC. I forget the companys name but suggest tracking them down and contacting directly to see if you could purchase one raw then have it painted locally.
Nice that you were able to isolate the problem that quickly. How did you test the coils?
If you have original wires might want to change them out to some more durable ones. I recommend AB's Quality Wires.

Also, If you don't already, switch to the updated Champion...
I typically use Castrol GT-LMA, or Motul600.
Castrol has the highest boiling points of any "overthecounter" fluids that you can purchase at autostores like AdvanceAuto/Pepboys/Autozone/NAPA. Although lately not many of my local stores have been stocking it...
Motul600 is a bit better but only...

The Gen2, Specifically the GTS was the pinnacle of automotive styling IMO. Only car I would consider a straight up trade for it is a Gen5. But with my own cash, for Gen5 money I would possibly rather have two Gen2's. One set up for the track, the other a bit tamed for the street.
The...
OK, had me worried there for a sec that you might have overlooked the most obvious thing... lol
Guess I'll share my experience with detonation/knock to see if it can help you.
A few ways I can think of to describe the sound:
- Pouring coarse sand or BB's into a metal can
- Pouring dried...
Your idea of solutions to this problem sounds ridiculous to me:
"Don't flog the car on a regular basis" --> Wow... Really??? That has got to be the lamest solution I can think of. FYI: Detonation does not have to be audible. It can silently(to you) be slowly destroying your pistons.
"Add...
More twist. Less push. errr... maybe the other way around...:dunno:
Honestly, its a PITA using the needle-nose pillars. Requires some brute force and luck. lol
Owner count means nothing to me with the Viper. The car is so extreme that I completely understand why someone would buy one then turn around and trade it in after a short time after determining that they cant handle it.
Some say the Viper experience is like dating a stripper... :-)
The...
The gen2 ones are glass and 220bucks. When mine cracked from a rock on the freeway or something I simply slapped a pre-cut yellow laminX tint on it to hide the crack.
I like the look of yellow tinted fogs...
Call the Wizard and get his advice. He has a paint guy that has experience with Viper Blue and has determined that there is THREE diff blues throughout the our 2-year run of GTS's. Not sure what type of paint he uses but sounded like he knew what he was doing.
I used PPG colormatch (where they...
Just throwing a c-clamp on there is no good. You have to twist it while pushing in.
With my 97 non-abs I've always just used some heavy duty needle-nose pillars to stick in the two little divots. Then twisted clock-wise while pushing in to get the piston to go back enough to fit a fresh pad...
If that is a 3" system I will take it.
Was cruising last night at a cruise/show weekend and ended the night with a headache as usual. I'm getting tired of the drone and have been wanting to give the corsa a shot.
Pm'd you my info.
Great deal. Pretty much the best shocks money can buy for a street viper with a $1000 disscount.
If you regularly drive backroads with your viper BUY THESE!!!
You will not regret it.
Easy to install too. Dont even need a spring compressor. Just one bolt bottom & top, pull the old one out and...

Yea, normal viper drivetrain slop mainly shows up at light throttle low rpm cruising. With this, the driver is the only thing to fix by having a smooth analog movements with his foot. If you aren't able to adapt to it then try going down 1 gear to bring the rpm's up a bit. If "bucking"...
On our tires the tread grooves only exist to assist in helping with WET traction. They do this by keeping water from building up under the contact patch.
With a new tire as you go around a turn the tire tread blocks stretch(aka squirm). This is more noticable on an all-season tire with a...
I am running the new(just came out in 2013) MCS Single Adjustable dampers with their recommended 500/800 springs.
The setup feels money but I still have more adjusting & hard back road riding to do before writing up a review...
I'm still wandering why your so concerned about motion ratio?
IMO...

MCS

Stuntman,
T6 is what i've been running for the past several changes. Street & Track, and I drive Hard:drive:
It was recommended by our previous resident fluids guru Tom who taught me a lot about fluids & additives.
It usually goes on sale once a month or so at Advance or Autozone where I...
