    Viper in Fatal Crash

Actually, from most of the R/T10 overturn wreck pictures that I've seen, the sports cap (that's what D/C calls the built-in rollbar in the R/T10) holds up VERY well in a rollover. Better than the SRT faux-rollbars. It's a really solid bar, bolted to the chassis. Unless it was a SRT-10...

I agree that Viper blue is a signature color, especially for the coupe.

    375 wrhp.......WTH????????

It's most likely the dyno, but if you get poor numbers again, the dyno is a good tool to clue you in on otherwise hidden problems like bad plugs/wires, or the throttle cables not pulling the throttles open all the way (as mentioned above). What were your torque numbers?

    Fastest American cars-Viper 6th?

Those are super-low production, specialty cars. For real production American performance cars (over 250 cars a year), the unhappily Viper does now come in 3rd in American performance. :o Although I'd put it VERY close to the Z06. At least until the Viper raises the performance...

    Blue/Silver Coupe...

Blue with silver stripes? What a great idea. ;) The Photochop looks nice (as always). But I'd rather have HRE 847s than the 547s. And I also prefer the look of the newer 5 spoke Viper coupe wheels to the previous SRT-10 wheels, or the Copperhead wheels. Here's a nice looking...

New Coupe What $ to get 130MPH traps?

Pretty sure he means adding a nitrous-propane system. :2tu: It is a straight forward installation, and it's invisible to the operation of the car when it's turned off. Plus because the Viper's engine is understressed in normal operation, it can easily handle nitrous with no problems if...

How rare am I ? (daily driver)

I drive my Viper several days a week, even to the store. But I won't ever leave it unattended for 1-2 hours at a movie theater, and I certainly don't use it for hauling materials. I consider the Viper to be my daily driver, but I do drive it less than my other cars in the winter/rain. Happily...

New Coupe What $ to get 130MPH traps?

Just bolt on a Paxton supercharger ($7K-$10K installed) Some dealers will do the installation and have the supercharged car delivered right to your door. :2tu:

At cross roads, just bought Viper and thinking of selling

The Viper is definitely more raw, and not a car for everyone. But it is actually a great handling car. Perhaps you need some additional track training in the Viper. Everyone benefits from driving school, and getting out on a track with expert instructors who have experience with the Viper at...

Oh My! As if the VIPER doesn't stand out already!

Re: Oh My! As if the VIPER doesn\'t stand out already! I don't mind the purple (although it wouldn't be my choice. But I agree that silver stripes would have been a better match than white (which I believe looks better on solid colors, rather than bright metallics).

does the icruze work with ipod nano

I don't have iCruize, but I just got one of the video iPods and bought a matching iTrip that plugs into the bottom of the iPod and plays through the stereo. The nice part is that I can play the iPod in any one of my cars, and through the various stereos at home. It's a tiny unit and has a...

New rims,, I know, the lowering is next

You might look at Northwind coil caps. They drop the car's height by about 3/4 to 1" and retain the original springs. It reduces the huge wheel gap, but doesn't sacrifice ride quality, and is much better for getting up driveways and over speed bumps than with Eibach lowered springs. :2tu:

    Park it or drive it?

If it's sunny out I'm usually driving the Viper. That's actually one of the reasons why I bought a Viper as opposed to a car like a Ferrari. I can take it on long trips, commute around town, race it at the track, and basically enjoy the car day after day, year after year. I can...

Performance Stats for New Coupe on SRT site - puzzling.

What is the puzzlement? They are just being conservative. Low-12 second 1/4 mile times means 12.0 to 12.3 roughly, and that's fairly accurate for someone who is not a skilled dragracer.

2005 VIPER SRT-10 HEFFNER TWIN TURBO PROJECT

Test and Tune is exactly that. Just running to see how well your car does. It's not like grudge match or bracket racing where you need to dial-in or hit particular times. There is a tech done to see that your car is race-worthy, and they will warn you, and subsequently kick you off if you run...

2005 VIPER SRT-10 HEFFNER TWIN TURBO PROJECT

I don't know any dragstrip that's free. Test & Tune during winter at Sacramento Raceway is only on Saturdays from 12-4PM (gates open at 9:30AM) and each car/driver pays $45, $10 for spectators. They say that street legal cars are limited to 3 runs, but how many that you actually get in...

    Horse Power conversion/calculation

Most people simply divide the RWHP number by 0.85 to get crank HP. That assumes a 15% drivetrain loss. But more measured tests show only a 13% driveline loss in Vipers, which means you would divide the RWHP number by 0.87. For instance the 481RWHP/501RWTQ numbers from your signiture would...

    PICs of Vipers on 20's

Re: PICs of Vipers on 20\'s Gary, I really like the look of the 20" HRE 847Rs on that GTS. I'm sure that the new owner will enjoy the striking good looks of the car as well.
