Found the bolt hole, it was much lower than I expected it to be. Should have just looked where the passenger belt is bolted.
Used a fein multitool to cut the bulkhead and a dremel with grinder tip to clean it up.
Now bring on the track days :) no more spending to much energy holding on...
Fairly simple question ... Have all the eyebolts installed except the drivers door bolt which I can't seem to find the hole
So I have to cut the slots in the bulkhead for the belts to pass through, what is the preferred method? Drill and jigsaw? Dremel? Multitool?
I dislike cutting...
One of the lucky ones ... I know my local viper tech is going to get trained on it when the training is available. Of course I'll have to win a lottery to afford a new one :)
A family plan would be cool ..... price for kids under the driving age, driving age under 21, and spouse with an option to drive/not drive in the price. Would be good to think about for future years events if it can't be incorporated into this years plans...may have more attendees this way
I went with #1, probably as most Gen 1's have .... used some rubber washers around the screws and didn't tighten to much, cracks are still there but no biggie. It's pretty easy and results are well worth it
+1. Being the average to slightly above average driver ( on track), I can certainly say I have a lot more to learn from car control that can greatly impact my time vs a paddle shifter that would not really help my level that much. There are not many experiences that compare to running a track...
Another option for you might be to take it to the Thompson Detailing Day ..... I believe this is on May 12th. Keep an eye on the boards here, but they will show you there how you can do it all. And if you really don't want to do it, they have some local detailers in attendance if I recall...
I don't think the hood cost will be the same ... The Gen I/II hoods are larger and heavier. My understanding is this led to a high failure rate in manufacturing the hoods driving up the cost. I would think the smaller lighter clam of the Gen V will probably not come close in cost.
I have no problem with the option ... For me though, if there is no left foot action, there is no reason to change gears. Don't think I could drive a paddle car.
After watching one of the Viper cup races where a lead car dropped its tires into stones that shattered the windshield of the trailing car, I think I would only go full face ... The added protection seems well worth the few $$$
Seems like the snake is about to attack in this picture ....
Overall, I'd say this is an awesome car design .... sure, things could always be a little bit tweaked here and there but I can't see any major area for improvement on the base models .... can't wait to see an ACR version and I...
