How good is the Gen2 Viper Clutch?
My rental has almost 20k on her. I bought it with 9,000 miles. The pedal still feels like the original. I have a carbon-kevlar Archer racing set-up sitting on the shelf when the original starts to go....... Lots of abuse on this clutch and it's still going strong......- SteveBCloud9

Turning 15,000
Follow your owners manual schedule. After 4-5 years, rubber pieces (hoses,etc) will become brittle as well, check these items. If you have never changed brake fluid, now would be the time. Again, follow what the mfg. has in the manual.- SteveBCloud9

A/C compressor going?
I noticed that some black tarlike substance is on the very front housing of the A/C compressor (north of the belt on the tip of the pully) and has thrown melted tar around the front of the engine bay (very little). RX7, You are missing the point here.... SPEND the dime, just at normal maintenence intervals. Changing your plugs at 5000 miles is overkill...... until someone, anyone, shows me otherwise.- SteveBCloud9

Top Speed in Viper?
One of my best renters who is on his 20th+ rental got it up to 178, so he says. Said it was the smoothest ride he was ever on.... a lot left too.- SteveBCloud9

O.K. I started up my snake this morning and the radiator fan went on. I know for a fact that the fan normally doesn't come on until the needle hits the line just after the 3 lines above the 190 mark on the Tempreature guage. Driving light covers?
I hear that you should never take these off to clean inside them (I haven't yet) because you'll end up not having a good seal. If you take them off regularly, eventually they will not stay in place anymore. True?- SteveBCloud9

Has anbody else smelled their clutch burning?
I still don't see the need for the line lock. Putting your foot on the gas prematurely would cause other damage with the line lock in place. What are we talking, a milisecond difference?- SteveBCloud9

Pilot Sports - 21,000 miles and worn more so in the center! Anyone know why?
New pilots should show 9/32 as I have a guage also. I have to keep taking readings as if I didn't charge for "EXCESSIVE ABUSE" on the rears, I'd go broke very very quickly. Do all gas cap covers have this?
On the inside of my 96' GTS gas cap cover, I have the following in red letters on a white background: "Premium unleaded fuel only, super sans plomb seulement" Do all Vipers have this? Just one draw back with owning a Viper... Bolts rusting, etc. You could always replace them yourself with hardened SS.- SteveBCloud9

For all of us who WILL be driving through the winter....
I've changed all of the fluids as routine maint. incl. coolant, transmission and brakes. I use 10-30 all year but the owners manual indicates 5w-30 if temp. goes below 0.
