I notice that my car has a very slight vibration when cruising at a steady 75-80 mph. It is not just at that speed but that is where I first noticed it. I recently changed wheels and tires and there was not change of this little vibration so I know it is not a wheel balance issue. I'm thinking...
Re: Finished winter refresh toady: painted calipers/added 6-spoke wheels on GTS (PICS
Follow-up: re-bled the brakes over the weekend and see there are some issues with powdercoating rotors. The good news is the hats are fine, and the coating seems to be whole and functioning as a coating on the...
BTW, putting that dang prop valve back together with that spring fighting you the whole time while bending over is close to the top of the list of the hardest things I have even DIY'd on my car. Doing that twice is two times too many.
Girlfriend said a friend of hers saw the aftermath of a Viper and Challenger running into each other head on this morning in Phoenix but did not know if it was an older Viper or newer Viper. The friend said it looked fairly low speed with no injuries. Anyone have any information? Hate to see...
I've had Tom's 40mm rear calipers on my 98 GTS for years. At first I had Kumho MX fronts with V700 rears so with regular compound fronts and sticky compound rears I needed as much rearward balance as possible so I removed the rubber seal in my proportioning valve. The fronts locked up befpre the...
And follow the golden rule of Viper driving: thou shalt not floor the car unles thou is going in a straight line.
P.S. My girlfriend says ditch the Vette and get a man's cars: a Viper
They would just slag it as a piece of junk and say it was so hard to drive that it was unsafe and even the Stig could not get it around the track quickly. They would probably have The Stig spin out just for dramatic effect (or perhaps test it in the rain then whine it is not as fast as the...
I have a new one I do not need. The reason I did not need it is it is effectively impossible to install. After giving it a serious shot I called Paul Scharf in Wisconsin and bought an entire used unit for cheap. Took about an hour to put it together after getting the used unit. Promblem with...
From what I have gathered from ther threads, the six-spokers compared to the Gen II 18" OEM wheels save a full 10 pounds on each wheel for the front and 6-7 pounds for each wheel in the rear.
Dang you are correct. After a little reminder research I see the R888s have a 100 wear rating (like Pilot Cups) whereas the NT05s have a 200 wear rating. For som reason I was thinking the Toyos had a 200 rating also. Not sure how I blew that. Well as the weather heats up the traction will...
Re: Finished winter refresh toady: painted calipers/added 6-spoke wheels on GTS (PICS
The smooth tubes, intake, valve covers, PCM cover, calipers and rotors are all powdercoated in a wrinkle powder called Storm Grey Wrinkle.
Only during the Barret-jackson Auction and the FBR PGA Golf Open!
For the record, my Toyo R888s stuck like glue from the second they hit the road. They were hard to spin even if I tried on the first test drive. That is why these are so scary so far.
Re: Finished winter refresh toady: painted calipers/added 6-spoke wheels on GTS (PICS
FINALLY! Somebody "gets" it.
It was you pictures that pushed me over the edge. I like the shiney finish better on your dark car, but I really like the shape of the wheels.
Odd data point: I put some new rubber on today - the newish Nitto NT05s which have a wear rating of 200 and are supposed to be seriously sticky tires. On my first test drives they proved to not be so sticky and I spun the heck out of them, but here is the odd part - not one bit of hop. I had...
When I bought my car the clear coat on the gas cap was pretty clouded up, so I painted it (and a set of OEM wheels with bad clear coat that I bought) the same color as the body.
I put some OEM six-spoke wheels on my GTS and decided to try the newer Nitto NT05 which is listed by Nitto as stickier than the Invos some you you guys use. The tread of the NT05 is not as sexy as the Invo:
The bead to rim interface is nice with lots of wheel protection:
I went with...
Been thinking about wheels & tires for years. When the six-spoke OEM came out I loved them as I really don't like three-piece wheels - especially with big pimpin' lip - but I was never a fan of of shiney wheels, especially on silver cars. When I found out six-spokers where reasonably priced...
