The Solstice interior execution was SO sub-par (the pop-out cupholder was just waiting to snap off or at least never retract again). Let's how your side-by-side pics are as far as the comparison goes.
I sold my Viper a while ago, but reading all the articles about the new Gen V I cannot help but become furious at the continuous restating of this bizarre idea that Vipers cannot turn corners. WHERE DID THIS IDEA COME FROM? Was there an article in some early magazine that was somehow quoted and...
With traction control, supposedly pretty sticky tires, and 60+ mph in first gear, this car has GOT to get to 60 quicker than the mid 3-second range everyone is estimating. Am I right?
Check out SRT's youtube vids: in one an engineer explains the DI is VERY hard to do on a wedge engine as opposed to an OHC hemi. That is why it does not have direct injection. It is however, still the only vehicle produced using the cam-in-cam variable valve timing for an in-block camshaft, and...
True, but EVERY SINGLE OTHER PERSON in the World other than us Viper guys think the Viper cannot turn. They completely ignore World Championships and track records. So ridiculous, but I believe the article was reporting the perception, not saying it is true.
Where did the riduculous idea about...
Are they both carbon fiber? I saw you could get the larger-vent model on the GTS but it does not mention what they are made of (I assume they are of the same construction).
With the very front and very rear restyled by the Maserati crew - but I'm not saying that is bad. I laugh at the discussions about the Gen I-II headlights. What was wrong with those lamps was the crappy body fitment around them. The yes or no on the Gen V will really be about fit and finish. The...
Here is a smoothed out version of the picture. Oddly, the cut lines look like a clamshell hood or perhaps a regular lift hood that incorporates the fender peaks.
In the February 20, 2012 Autoweek, in the article covering the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the following quote appears where they are talking about the GT field:
"The rest of the GT class was a mix of Mazda RX-8s, in their final year of factory-backed competition, some chevrolet Camaros and a...
Hope it is good for Mr. Gilles - but sounds odd after using him to pimp Dodge as the only spokesman. Seems like you cannot see an advertisement or article about Dodge without Ralph appearing as a prominent part of the brand (very successfully I think) - and now they move him? What a ride the...
The previous wheels where 1999-2002 OEMs painted to match the car with a little orange and grey graphic that coordinated with the windshield banner:
I ended up coating those wheels black and selling them with the TOYO 888 in place (awesome tires by the way).
I'm still a Mopar guy - I drive a 2006 SRT-8 Jeep. Here is a picture of my old car for Frog:
I'm kind of hoping the new owner takes those wheels to black as I was never a big fan of shiney next to silver.
Funny to see this old thread come back to life! I sold my Viper back in January 2011 so I'm not getting looked down upon here in snobby Scottsdale any longer, but folks I know on the internet still rag on me just because I USED to have a Viper - go figure. After 6.5 years of Viper ownership I...
Good news is the hinge is a $100 fix. Bad news is the door is gonna be way more than 10x that. My broke and just fell down and did not hurt anything. Maybe I'm lucky.
When I had leaking o-rings it was the ones where the hard lines connected to the condensor out in front of the radiator. I replaced the ones on the compressor at the same time to be safe, but they were not the ones that leaked. Make sure and check for residue up front.
IIRC the torque is around 95 inch pounds but I do not have my service manual any longer to check as I gave it away with my sold 1998. But in any event, once someone verifies the proper torque, DO NOT MAKE THE BOLTS THAT TIGHT! Back off a little as the factory torque can crack and lower corners...
Sergio Marchionne did a live apperance on CNBC this morning. I have a group of friends who were all born in Rome, then immigrated to Canada, then finally ended up inthe USA so I am not sure why I was so taken by the fact he has only an imperceptable Italian accent (he went to shool in Canada)...
Nobody carries enough auto insurance limit to cover two fatalities. Bigger limits if the driver is a rich guy with umbrella coverage that kicks in, but this situation is most assuredly going to underinsured motorist coverage and if so, good luck to the family of the deceased as insurance...
