Roe vs. Paxton/Vortech superchargers. Which is better?

Uh, why not? Please explain KB's magical version of the Autorotor that makes more power while moving ~10% less air per revolution. Please note that I have a Heffner Paxton setup and am not defending what I bought, although I used to have a Roe.

Roe vs. Paxton/Vortech superchargers. Which is better?

Now you've lost me. The Roe s/c is a twin-screw Autorotor--the same type of blower KB uses--which was chosen specifically for the Viper with the involvement of Autorotor. Only the Roe is a 2.4 liter Autorotor, while the Blowzilla is a 2.2 liter. So unless you're saying KB's version of the...

Roe vs. Paxton/Vortech superchargers. Which is better?

I don't know how close it is to 2Many's, but it's spot on to my dyno sheet. My car made ~360 rwhp and 615 rwtq at 3k rpm and went up rapidly from there. Can't do it. The Roe blower won't work with stock heads at 10 psi. Sean's testing revealed this early on, which is why everyone running...

Roe vs. Paxton/Vortech superchargers. Which is better?

No. Tony, I think he said in an earlier post they were without, but they were using 100 octane. Still awfully high numbers, and I have serious doubt about the 8 psi part (not accusing anyone of anything but I wonder how the boost was measured).

    B&Z valve covers

Dennis (the owner) told me recently that his focus was on other things, but I'm not sure whether he's going to keep making them or not (I already have a set and didn't ask). It wouldn't surprise me if he stopped as I know they don't contribute much to his bottom line--he's just a fellow Viper...

How cost effective are forged pistons

And what blown application might not run into a little detonation? The causes are numerous (a tank of poor gas, a significant change in ambient air temperature, a less than perfect tune, etc.), and the potential consequences are serious. The cast pistons aren't made to run with f/i, and it is...

    CCW vs Purner

Get the Purners. Their customer service and warranty is a lot better than CCW's. This is a joke, right?

How cost effective are forged pistons

Given that a 96-99 is likely to be several thousand dollars less expensive, and already has forged pistons, the answer seems obvious. Unless you want a newer car for some other reason, and then it comes down to how much having the newer car (and ABS or whatever) is worth to YOU. I don't think...

Roe vs. Paxton/Vortech superchargers. Which is better?

If you're looking for input on the two DIY kits and plan to go that way (install it yourself or have someone do it who isn't a serious Viper tuner), get the Roe.

    Heffner + Mid-South Viper + TorqueFreaks =

Hey John! Thanks again for all your hard work. I'll try to call you over the weekend or something to pick your brain on a few AEM nuances, assuming you're not headed back to Italy or somewhere to tune in the next couple of days. :2tu:

    3.55 Gears With Roe S/C ????

I'd keep them too, at least until you see what you think. I ran 3.55's with my Roe setup, which made around 555/590 at the wheels, and I liked it much better than with the 3.07's, even with Pilots. If Pilots are too slippery with them for your taste you can always run the Kumhos (or if all you...

    Heffner + Mid-South Viper + TorqueFreaks =

Thanks for the pic Casey. That's actually a different crossmember than the one I have, which dips down under the blower. I'm thinking you must have a Vortech blower, which mounts in a somewhat different place.

    Heffner + Mid-South Viper + TorqueFreaks =

FE, I think it's a custom crossbrace that Jason uses. It dips down below the s/c and is not very noticeable from the top of the engine compartment (which didn't stop me from chroming it, of course :) ). Tommy, I'm not sure exactly what the size of the pulley is, but it's fairly small compared...

    Heffner + Mid-South Viper + TorqueFreaks =

Ab, you may have written that before I edited--I'm only at 70% duty cycle at 45 psi, so I've got lots of room to supply more fuel if I need it. I could have gotten by with smaller injectors, but not knowing what I might do down the road (more boost, swap to turbos, etc.), I figured I might as...

    Heffner + Mid-South Viper + TorqueFreaks =

RC Engineering and no, they are high impedance. They're running at about 70% duty cycle at 45 psi fp, so I'd say I have the capacity for a few more horsepower. :D

    Heffner + Mid-South Viper + TorqueFreaks =

Here's a pic of the engine: I gained a shade over 300 rwhp from my previous setup. Whaddya mean Tony, you know this is the basic Paxton kit! 1,000+ crank hp for $6,995! :headbang: I wish!! Tony is right, this is a custom Heffner setup using the Novi 2000, and has a lot of stuff the...

Surely you jest! :D I had David put forged pistons in before installing the blower, and we upgraded the lifters and pushrods as well. If you're going to up the boost on your Roe setup, I would highly recommend changing the pistons. Otherwise you may wind up with what I found when we pulled...

    Heffner + Mid-South Viper + TorqueFreaks =

Yes, heads/cam/rockers. The dyno sheet says 12 psi, but I think that run actually made between 13 and 14 psi. I need to go back and look at the datalogging and see (another huge benefit of the AEM). This setup was installed along with the AEM--my previous setup was a Roe s/c using the VEC2.

    Heffner + Mid-South Viper + TorqueFreaks =

One very fine running package! This is a Heffner Novi 2000 system installed by David Yelensky at Mid-South Viper near Nashville. David is a full-time Viper tech and does performance modifications as well. He is also very meticulous and did a great job installing my Heffner setup. I went with...

AEM tuners near the Ohio/KY area?

I also highly recommend Torquefreaks. I'm in Tennessee, and John Reed from Torquefreaks flew out and tuned my Heffner/Paxton/AEM system a couple of weeks ago. The car makes 860 rwhp on 93 octane and drives better than stock--it's a pussycat to drive around town in, but you better hang on when...

    car show today/rare car (pics)

You know those marketing guys. Ford's only involvement in F1 is through its Jaguar team (which it actually has put up for sale), which is supplied with engines from Ford's Cosworth subsidiary. However, given that Cosworth's and Team Jaguar's F1 engines are 3 liter V-10's, there...

    car show today/rare car (pics)

Somehow taking a '99-01 Mustang Cobra engine, beefing it up some and putting a centrifugal blower on it, and wrapping it up in an exotic looking body with a nice chassis doesn't add up to $500k to me, but maybe it's just me.

    TT Turbo Questions

Also, I checked the AEM user manual, and to correct my statement above, the AEM traction control uses ENGINE acceleration as an input, not wheel speed. Apparently this is because not all cars have wheel speed sensors, and on the ones that do many use an external signal processor to read the...

    TT Turbo Questions

But who puts turbos on a Viper on a budget? I mean you don't have to spend $40k anymore, but if you're going to spend $20-30k, and you're going to have to have some kind of engine management anyway, the difference between an AEM and the other options (e.g., VEC2) is $2k or less. I don't see a...
