    Voi 11 Web Site Meeting

It was great meeting some of you this weekend. I have never had so many people I know, but have never met lol Ted, you are much crazier than I could have imagined. I should have given you my card and a free therapy session. I think living so far from nowhere has finally caught up to you...

    Your fondest memories of VOI

Yep, driving the Nurburgring ACR was my highlight as well. I still can't believe they were letting us drive that car! But my most embarrassing moment was when I was giving some Dodge managers from Detroit rides on the autoX in the corporate SRT and Herb Helbig walks over in his helmet after a...

    fuel pump (parts + labor)?

Do you trust this dealership fully? This actually sounds like the alarm system reset and they are trying to make a ton of free $$ off you. Fuel pumps don't stop working and then start again. With the alarm system reset (do a search), the car will start and rev up and then die within a few...

    TPS/MAP sensor issues?

Yes, the pintle should shutter a little when the ignition is turned on as it quickly self-adjusts. I would also ohm check your TPS just to make sure it is not worn out. You want a steady, linear reading with no jumps. The exact procedure and specs should be in the FSM.

Auto-cross times, post ' em up!!

Went back today to try it out again and ended up being there for 2 hours after lunch giving Dodge execs and guests rides in the corporate cars. Could only muster a 21.43 for my best time, but was in the 21s all day. I'm very sore now.

Auto-cross times, post ' em up!!

In the SRT coupe loaner car I got a 23.56 on the only lap that counted. I got down to a 22.13 on my last run. I was told by the officials it was the fastest up until then on street tires :dunno:

This is why I'm waiting a little longer. I want a few more DIYers to get help. Eric, maybe we can both get one this winter and work on learning it for spring ;)

    SLC gas station octane ratings?

I haven't found any place in SLC that sells 93. But the 91 generally doesn't have ethanol in it either. My recommendation is to get the best quality fuel you can find - Chevron, Shell, Texaco around here - and see how it runs. My car is tuned near the edge at 93, so when I'm in UT I keep...

    Project: Bullet-proof V-10

OK, so here is what I've been up to the last few days. I soaked the crank in solvent overnight to clean out the machining dust. I washed it with soap and water and wiped it down with WD-40. I assembled the pistons on the rods. Then I installed the crank with new bearings and torqued...

    Project: Bullet-proof V-10

I bought my piston rings and bearings from a well-known race shop called Ackerly and Childs (previously Childs and Albert). I would recommend them for rings, but you can get the exact same bearing set cheaper on ebay. I went with the Hellfire rings on recommendation from JD. The race...

    Project: Bullet-proof V-10

Once I honed all the cylinders, there was a lot of harmful debris in the block that needed to be cleaned out. I started by soaking the block with engine degreaser and scrubbing it really good and rinsing it out with a power washer. I scrubbed the crankshaft area well with hot soapy water to...

    Project: Bullet-proof V-10

I will mention that in the write-up. That is what the manual recommends, but it is highly debatable that they should be replaced every time. There was a thread on this very topic over on VA that dispels that myth. I have reused them before with no ill-effects. thanks :)

    Project: Bullet-proof V-10

Another part of the process was honing the cylinders and preparing the block. I pulled the block on the stand outside for cleaning. I used a flex hone to deglaze the cylinders and put a nice cross-hatch back in the bores. I use a generous amount of WD-40 with the drill at about half...

    Project: Bullet-proof V-10

Well, I finally got my parts back from the machine shop. I had the crank competition balanced, meaning every rotating part, including flywheel, clutch, crank, pistons, rods, front dampener and pulley. I also had the crank journals polished. In the meantime, here are a few things I did...

    Crankshaft Damper Bolt?

I would order one from Chuck. Its going to be hard to find a replacement. It is big and you want to make sure you have the correct length and shoulder on it. Also, the washer is very thick and you may not be able to find it in the exact thickness. However, if you really want to try, I have...
