Boy you are soooo wrong about this. The majority of Vette owners, SPECIFICALLY Z06 owners (myself included) like the Vipers. I would be very disappointed if the Viper program is cancelled. What the Corvette folks can't stand about the ACR:
The Viper continues to get props from the huge majority of Vette owners, myself included. I don't have a Viper, but my friend just got an SRT and I went with him. So here's my opinion, a potential buyer. I'd be MUCH more inclined to get one if the car is also available as a coupe. Viper vs. Vette (cornering)
From my experience and observation, if it's an average driver the Z06 will be faster because it's more forgiving. If it's a highly skilled driver, the Viper will be faster, simply because it has a higher performance limits where its driver is able to extract the maximum potential of the car.
