" The new Viper is exotic and curvy, but the glory days are gone at least by sales"

Re: " The new Viper is exotic and curvy, but the glory days are gone at least by sale I like the new 'Vette. Even the BASE car essentially matches the performance numbers of my Gen 3. I love my Viper, and all Vipers, but if I had only $60,000 to spend on a NEW performance car at the moment, the...

    Vipers Prices Gen 3

I feel exactly the same with my 03. I can't drive 510 hp anywhere near it's limits (nor do I have the capability). I can't justify going to a Gen4, even I could afford it. If I could afford it, it would be because I wanted a coupe, or a different color, more than the performance issue.

Again, exactly correct. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Didn't realize that was SmogDog's car. I would buy (if I could) this car sight unseen.

    check engine light

Agree, this is a BRAND NEW car. I would have refused delivery if it were doing that when deliver. Call the selling dealer, tell them to come get it, and fix it.

    Vipers Prices Gen 3

Agree. I have almost 31,000 miles on my 03 (bought it April 2010 with 23,000), and I'm enjoying every mile!

    Vipers Prices Gen 3

As the owner of a 2003, I guess I'm a bit sensitive about this, so I was wondering the same thing?

At this price, it should go today. If I weren't in the housing market, you and I would be talking today.

What is a "throttle forced power limit"? And now one is required to go to a dealer to get this cleared? Talk about Big Brother.....

    Viper Purchasing ?'s

Final, SAE revised ratings for the 8.3 is 510 hp, 535 lb ft (ratings for all cars were revised in 05-06, I think). 03-05 are 'vert only, 06 also coupe. Over 3 years now with my 03, and still lovin' it!

" The new Viper is exotic and curvy, but the glory days are gone at least by sales"

Re: " The new Viper is exotic and curvy, but the glory days are gone at least by sale I agree with everything you just said. Back in the 90s, there wasn't much that could touch a Viper, performance-wise stock off the showroom floor.

    Car has been sold

All good choices. I LOVE my 07 Charger SRT8, and that has the 6.1. The 6.4 is even better. Have you considered one? Although, if you have the $$, the CTSV would be hard to pass up. World-class performance.

    Car has been sold

Ryan, sorry to see it go. You didn't have it long. Being single with no kids, I only have the finances hold me back from a Gen 4. That, and I cant justify the upgrade from my 03 that I can't even drive to it's lmits., let alone a gen 4. That being said, your situration has SRT8 Grand Cheroke...

    Clutch Wear Question

Agree, fluid is important. When I bought my 03 3 years ago, with (at that time) 23,000 miles, clutch fluid was one of the first things I changed. Old stuff was dirty.

    The modifications have begun...

Nick: OK, I'll bite. You just bought this car (after selling your beautiful red 03), and spent big $$ on mods. Why are you selling? Gen 5?

    Ralph Gilles' Dyno Results

Assuming 13% (+/-) driveline lossed which we usually see in the Gen 3/4 cars, 640 flywheel hp woudl translate to about 557 at the rear wheels, so this dyno run is right in range. As I said, Saturday afternoon was hot and humid in Carlisle, so in better air, there would be better numbers.

304 New gen 5 Vipers on Autotrader for sale

This is me as well. Single, no kids, but not in the 100K league.! Hell, I barely swung my Gen 3. Granted, I've "wasted" some money flipping trucks over the years. If I had stayed with 1, I might be in the position for a Gen 5. Oh well, still had fun...

    Ralph Gilles' Dyno Results

I was there on Saturday (saw the car, but didn't see the run). By the time his car was on the dyno late in the afternoon, it was very hot and humid, so with better air, he'll make even better numbers.
