    2003 and 2004 Recall

REceived mine yesterday as well. All it says is no parts available, and I'll get another when they are! Car goes in for service and PA Inspection in early May, so hopefully part is available by then. However, car is 10 years old, 30,000 miles, and the airbag light has been on since I bought it 3...

    40k miles...

This. Lower fascia scraped, even more so with mine, because it's lowered. Interior is in great shape. I think the previous owner just never really detailed the exterior well.

    40k miles...

My 2003 is just about to turn 30,000 miles. It has a build date of May 2003. I'll have it 3 years next month, and I've put 7000 miles on it since then, and has been garaged since I've owned it. However, paint had issues when I bought it, and it is really starting to show. It is black, and...

    Another (sigh) new owner

Condrats. Owned my 03 for three years now, and it never gets old! Your Viper has LOTS more torque than that Cayman (which are great cars, by the way). You're very lucky to have owned both. Go easy on the throttle till you get used to it!

Diesel Dodge tuned to 1,100 hp smokes a Viper — and the crowd

I was wondering when you were going to chime in Robert. You bringing the truck to Carlisle this year?

    Delivery Date?

Joh, go with the VooDoo! We have an R8 V10 come to our C&C, and while it is a gorgeous car, it ain't no VIper, and it SURE ain't no VooDoo! Plus, you'd be buying from Bernie Katz (where I bought my 03), and he won't steer you wrong.

Diesel Dodge tuned to 1,100 hp smokes a Viper — and the crowd

Come to my truck club's dyno event this weekend in Dillsburg PA. Several trucks there can smoke a Gen 4 in the 1/4. You'd be surprised what these tuned Cummins can do.

    Help me with selling price

Nice car, and I love Venom Red. I think it's a decent price too. PS - Why are you selling?

My SRT-10s have been sold...but, there's good news!

Phew, OK!!! Lord knows, I've "thought" about letting both the 07 Bee SRT8 and the 03 goe to get into a Gen 4, but I just can't do it. First, I love the Bee, it's a great car...fast and comfortable, and handles well for it's size and weight. Second, I can't drive my Gen 3 anywhere near its...

So why the sale, and what is next for you?

Was the Viper Engine originally a v-10 TRUCK engine sent off to Lamborghini? ---

Chorps is correct, I think!! Again, I'll have to check my reference books, but the original collaboration was in the late 80s, when both a new truck engine, and the Viper engine were needed for the coming years. Who did what to which one may be eternally lost to history!

Was the Viper Engine originally a v-10 TRUCK engine sent off to Lamborghini? ---

By the way, the last V10 trucks came off the assembly line in December 2002 as 2003 models. 2003 was the first year of the redesign in the 2500 and 3500 trucks, 1500s got it (the redesign) in 02. There were VERY few of the 2003 V10s. I have only ever seen one, at Carlisle some years back...

Was the Viper Engine originally a v-10 TRUCK engine sent off to Lamborghini? ---

Right. The bottom line is the Chrysler and Lambo co-developed the V10 for truck use, but as Bob said, it was then adapted and highly modded for car use (the Viper) and appeared there first, 3 years before the truck. The two engines share basic architecture and displacement only, that's about it.

Was the Viper Engine originally a v-10 TRUCK engine sent off to Lamborghini? ---

No, the Lambo influence was there (this was the late 80s). I have several Mopar reference books at home, I'll have to check tonight.

Was the Viper Engine originally a v-10 TRUCK engine sent off to Lamborghini? ---

The 440 had gone away, and while Chrysler had the Cummins, it didn't have a big-block gasser to compete with Chevy (454) and Ford (460) at the time. The V10 was originally developed for the truck, but appeared (highly modded) in the Viper first, in 1992. The new Ram made debuted 1994 MY, and...

The one thing I wish SRT would've borrowed from Ferrari...

My issue with the electronic and digital on new cars (not just Vipers) is, if they go out, will you know your speed, mileage, data, to even drive to get them repared? And, when the car is out of warranty, look out! And, 40 years from now, will these even be repairable at all?

    Finally: Back from Hibernation!

Road & Track April...Could you live with the new Viper ? Absolutly

Again though, implying you couldn't live with the old! I have no issues of livability with my Gen3. 150 mile drives with the C&C crew on back roads are highway, are no issue.

    Impressed more every day

Agreed. As I always says, some cars are NOT poor investments. If the idea of money is to improve quality of life, then the money spent on my Viper was well spent!
