    19 Years Ago Today

Great story George! I live in West Chester, only a few miles from Raymond (now David) Dodge. He is still a large SRT dealer, and always has some nice cars on the lot. That winte of'94 was HORRIBLE with the ice storms...it's what prompted my to get my first 4wd vehicle - a 94 Wrangler. You're...

    ACR in Motor Trend

Colo, we have Spyker owner at our C&C as well. He also owns a F-California, and a 911 Turbo, among other things. Nicest guy you'd want to meet, and loves all cars. 458 owners as well. I'm not the only Viper that attends our C&C, and we have a lot of fun on our drives. 430 Scud, 458, 575, 911 -...

    ACR in Motor Trend

1Bad, I know the Ferrari guys (and P-car guys) at my weekly C&C are VERY respectful of my 2003. Many are aware of the new Gen 5, and have asked me what I think, and a couple have seen the car in person, and were impresses. All the F-car guys I hang (and drive) with have no issues with the Viper...

What's a safe minimum drive during winter to avoid excessive engine wear?

Glad to see another enjoying and using our cars. What I've seen from this thread is that we all have our own ways of enjoying them, and that is what its really all about!

What's a safe minimum drive during winter to avoid excessive engine wear?

Aaron (Hoboken) and I discussed this very thing over PMs. We each enjoy our own way. Me, I take a drive when I can, because I may not get another chance!

What's a safe minimum drive during winter to avoid excessive engine wear?

You make excellent points. However, I have had mine out with temps of 20*, and as long as you are very careful, you'll be OK, at least on PS2s. As for 10-20 years? Seeing my friend Victor pass makes me realize I need to enjoy life now. If I'm still around in 20 years, I'll worry about the...

What's a safe minimum drive during winter to avoid excessive engine wear?

I put about 30 miles on the car today. We had some crappy wet roads this morning, but she's been sitting for a month, and I had to get her out. There was another reason as well, as I was driving her in memory of a friend of mine (and fellow Viper owner) who passed away. She fired right up after...

    2003 and 2004 Recall

Re: Recall. 2003 and 2004 Thanks, I'll mention this to my service writer when it goes in for service and state inspection in May. Good to know.

What's a safe minimum drive during winter to avoid excessive engine wear?

It works, at least mine does. Been doing this for 2 winters now (and summer as well, as I use save mode all the time). Never an issue.

Bernie Katz...great person to do business with

Bought my 03 from Bernie at BJ 3 years ago. Best car-buying experience I ever had! When it comes time to upgrade (if ever..) to a Gen 4, Bernie is gonna be the first peep I go back to, unless I do a private transaction! Scott

What's a safe minimum drive during winter to avoid excessive engine wear?

Nope, never an issue. I use the key (carefully) and it opens right up. I'm hoping to take a brief drive this weekend! Hey, it's a car folks. These things are not as fragile as everyone thinks!!

What's a safe minimum drive during winter to avoid excessive engine wear?

I too am in a similar situation. My car stays in an unheated garage, and a cannot keep a tender on it. I just keep it in battery save mode. If the roads are clear and dry (which they havent been around here), I DO drive it (VERY carefully) maybe a 10-20 mile roundtrip. The PS2s are hard as...

    Gen 4 Race Controller Queston

But here in PA, you have to pass the FIRST time, before you become exempt. And with the race PCM, it's uh...well, don't ask me how I know!

MotorWeek Picks Viper as 2013 Best Dream Machine

This is great news. By the way, I just bought a 2013 Dart 1.4 Turbo/6-speed for my daily driver, and I love it! Wish I could afford to buy a new Viper. Guess I'll have to stick with my slow Gen III!!

Shifter is very stiff and difficult to move

He has plenty of us near by! Trust me, Steve has forgotten more about these cars than most of us will know, so when he says somthing is "off", it's "off"!!

Shifter is very stiff and difficult to move

Same here with my 03, but I know Steve's car, and it is in perfect condition. Which is why this is odd.

    Refreshed 2015 Viper?

I just bought a new Dart 1.4L Turbo/6-speed for my daily driver. GREAT car, love it. Gotta wind 'er up a bit, but she moves. I have stalled her a couple times though....I'm used to the off-idle torque of my Viper!! PS: I have owned many Chrysler products over the years, including 3 trucks...

Shifter is very stiff and difficult to move

Very odd Steve. Last time I had the car out, after it had been in the cold garage, shifter and clutch were stiff, but fine as soon as the fluids warmed up. Are you sure it's just not cold fluid after letting the car sit?
