Yes, the GT500 is gone. It is a great car with loads of muscle car appeal, but I've been missing a real sports car for a while now and only another Viper made any sense to me.
As a 5 time previous Viper owner, all I can say is that I'm excited as a 6 year old on Christmas eve waiting for my new 2013 GTS to arrive on Monday. Whether the model lives on or goes the way of the Ford GT it doesn't matter all that much to me. I'm going to enjoy my new Viper to the fullest...
Probably nothing to do with the actual stripes I would think. Unless it was caused by some type of painting buck the hatch was hanging on while they applied the stripes??
I believe the exact same thing happened to a guy who tried to buy a long sitting 2013 at Cole's Dodge out here on the West Coast. I would bet it's not a fluke.
Snorman, who has owned a bunch of fast cars including Vipers and GTR's has run an 11.3? in his bone stock GT500. That's a heck of a lot of bang for the buck right there!
Is your Jag free and clear or does it have a lien on it? If it has a lien the dealer should have problem cutting you a check for the positive equity. If it's clear he might or might not want to pay the full amount, but I'd say tough sh*t to that. Cut me a check and we'll go from there.
SEMA to the rescue- I guess my dream of owning a 1964.5 Ford Galaxy fastback with a full tilt dual quad 427 one day lives on! http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2014/02/25/new-farm-bill-hobbles-e15-ethanol-expansion/?refer=news
"Lame" in that the factory won't do a proper full stripe on a base SRT car and the "mini stripes" still cost $4,500. I personally love stripes on a Viper. 4 out of 5 of mine were, with the only exception being a '05 Copperhead
