I'm also 6'3" and had the 2 inch lowering kit on my Gen III and Gen IV. The Gen V, in my opinion is way more comfortable and the first Viper I DO NOT have a seat lowering kit. I just don't understand how people say it is less comfy than the previous gens. Though cant compare to the gen II's...
no rattles in my car either. I have to disagree whole heartedly regarding headroom. although I have never owned a Gen II GTS the new gen V has definitely got more head room than the gen III and IV, no question. I needed the 2 inch seat lowering kit in BOTH my 2005 and 2009 Viper. My 2013 GTS is...
There has to be a way to lower the seats. I fit just OK but could never with a helmet. Maybe someone who is crafty could modify the seat rails or figure out some home kit modification to lower the seat another inch or so.
I believe the mistake dealers made was to order a high msrp Viper thinking it will sell itself. Viper owners are a very picky group and when I ordered my '13 GTS I wanted a very Specific car. I don't care if I get 20K off sticker, if it doesn't have the options/color I want , I am Not buying!
I removed the spacer and it did help a bit. 6'3" hear and I do look out the top 1/4 of the windshield. Definitely wouldn't mind the seat lowered a bit more. There must be an easy way to modify the seat rail. At least there is nothing under the seat that needs to be relocated like in the gen IV...
yeah...what year f430. Go to Ferrari central of NJ and see how much these fairly new F430 are going for. Would take a brand new Gen V ANY day of the week.
Had a '09 Carrera 'S' (PDK w/sports chrono) and the launch control did make for some very consistant 1/4 mile times. However, the basic design dated back DECADES! Porsche has mastered the art of 'incremental improvements' in the 911.(even the new vette now). I agree with you Nick, why don't...
I actually expected the better quality, better fit and finish, upscale interior (which still shocked me with the upgrades), better performance but what SURPRISED me was the much, much improved everyday drivability. I also agree whole heartedly the car and its angle and curves looks MUCH better...
great deal if it is the color/options you want and are happy with black only interior. For a car coasting anywhere north of 100g I want the options I want. to me. worth the extra coin to order custom.
Although both highlighted statements I agree with. I am not sure it is SRT's fault. Technology has brought MANY of the lower priced cars up to par performance wise. Heck, these days a Honda Accord traps in the 13's!!! I remember the days only a GNX could do that (even the vette couldn't back...
Good question. I don't have the answer. Maybe people still have the opinion that the Viper is a brutal beast. Until the 'potential' buyers can test drive one they will never know how awesome the car really is.
Point I am making is I get positive comments constantly about the new car. Just because the performance #'s aren't leaps and bounds better than the previous generation qualifies it as a failure?? Porsche and corvettes have made a living with small, incremental performance gains. Fact is the gen...
Had the car out yesterday and got the usual 'thumbs up', waves, stares, turn arounds to follow the car, cell phone pics etc but the best was one mans opinion of the gen V Viper as I was at the gas station. He said, 'that is one sick looking car". as he then proceeded to get in his Panamera...
No question AMG's are very fast in a straight line. I had one of the very first 2007 E63's with the 6.2 engine and ran 12.1 116 bone stock. but that is where the performance ends. I loved that car for a daily driver. But any Viper owner will tell you the Viper was not designed for straight line...
C'mon!! I believe my Gen III even stickered around 84K! Since most 'hard core" Viper owners supposedly would buy the base SRT I don't think 100k is unreasonable for everything the new Viper has to offer.
Wait a minute , I apologize. I am wrong, there was one Gen V blue/white at the NY/CT Viper club cruise to Oaklands in the Hamptons last summer. But does that really count?
I guess this makes my car more rare now!!! since I took delivery of my car LAST June 8th do you how many Gen V's I have seen on the street?? ZERO!!
NONE!
Don't know where you live. I am just saying if it is your only car and you live in a climate that gets snow/ice in the winter you will not be able to drive the car every day. MAYBE with a set of dedicated winter tires but then ground clearance will be an issue with greater than 5 inches of...
