Congrats (again). I have now put about 1500 miles on my still (for now) low mileage 06. Agree that from standing the Viper pulls harder and I agree that from all the cars I have had the GT is lights years ahead in handling.
The weird part of the GT is the "gawk factor" I have had all 4 Gens of...
I have owned a bunch of Vettes and am a big fan. I have also owned 6 Vipers since 95 and 7th on the way. I tend to buy more on looks than speed since speeds can be fairly close and a moving target from Gen to Gen.
I have driven a ZR1--nice car but for the life of me cannot see why Chevy does...
Oil change on my GT is $300. You have to remove about 5 zillion screws and remove oil from 2 places, etc. I have a lift and i won't fool with it. Viper--easy
Ok, I will be the contrarian to my friend Jon.
Your history is correct. The difference now is soon there will be NO factory, and we are dealing with a company which may be in far worse shape than it competitors. (and under govt thumb) None of these factors existed before.
Add to all that...
Wasn't that the one where he (36 yrs old) spun out of control and hit a parked trailer? A weird story if I recall with allegations of gambling rings etc etc--don't know if ever proven.
My 09 Vert is in classifieds. I am awaiting my Final Ed 2010 and with a recently purchased Ford GT, something has to go to make room.
3950 miles and a steal at $69k (MSRP $94K) If you have been wanting a Gen 4 and want to buy local email me. If not it will go on trade. Terry
09 Red Vert -...
I am getting a coupe. I hear the ACRs are gone. Good luck with the sale. I have my 09 with an MSRP of $94K at a rock bottom $69k and no bites--amazing (to me anyway). A great deal for someone.
Thanks for the responses while I was considering trading or selling. It is now in our classifieds for a few days. I will sell or just trade on the 2010.
Hopefully this does not violate rules --if so remove or remove within whatever grace period there may be. Thanks:)
That plate has been around for awhile. I can't remember what car I saw it on but a long time ago.
But for the fact you want black, I would say get a 92. I continue to think they will one day be like the 53 Vette in value--close to the same number made. They occasionally come up on ebay--cheap.
Ahhh, 15 years ago I put 50K on a green 95--my first snake and the most miles I have put on 7 Vipers. Brings back fond memories. You always miss the first.
If a Gen 5 looks like that I will stop buying snakes. Of course, some will remember that is exactly what I said about Gen 3. (at last count 4 Gen 3-4s :smirk:)
Lee and Jon are exactly right. And, (and bear in mind I consider Bob a friend so I am biased) we should all be glad we lived in the era of Lutz. He is a modern day Harley Earl.
Was he brand loyal?--of course. We can all remember the "Ode to Viper " which took a shot or 2 at the Vette. But...
I have had several Vettes and they are the best bang for the buck in the world. They are great daily drivers and much better in that regard for no other reason than I have never worried about leaving my Vettes in parking lots but never leave my Vipers out of site.
My daily is a CTS-V with a...
Well, since I have one on order, I am scared to death. From the little my dealer has told me it sounds good. I have known color for weeks but did not want to blurt it out. I just fear that it may have stripes/wheels more appropriate for a 20 year old than a man of my advance age.:)
CR is a huge joke. I have a number of product clients and even the ones that get the highest marks laugh at the mistakes and errors in the reports/ratings.
