The power steering pumps on these cars get really noisy and so do the fans, which i beleive is hydraulic. Anyways i had one of the Viper tuners tell me you should flush steering fluid OFTEN. So I flushed it and may fan seems to be running quieter, steering less noisy. Im no expert on the why's...
Just flushed my P/S fluid. It was dirty, 2 years and 20K. I had done the suck the fluid out with a baster and top off in the resevoir every few months. But too lazy to do a complete flush. But it was worth it. My fan was getting noisy and it seems to have quieted down some after the flush...
With all your power Plum, you better start bove 60 mph. Otherwise you will probably just spin up, unless you use a different gear, but then you may not be in your sweet spot of the rpms. Good luck, try and get a vid.
Wow, thats moving. I think there was a recent post about a member taking the ACR around Willows and running 1:29's which was supposed to be a record. So if the SRT guys did 1:26's, they got that thing dialed in. Good job SRT !!!
I raced a 600 cc bike on freeway when I was at about 500 rwhp. We were neck in neck from 60 mph till about 90+ then I started to edge him out.
Now that I have about 700 rwhp, I purposely look for bikes. 600's are no problem, Ive pulled 750's and even a couple liter bikes. The last liter bike...
So I guess if they put regular PS2's on the Z06 it would have done better at the Ring
Go read what there saying when they tested them. Ron Fellows ( Lemans Driver ) was testing them, on ZR1 and Z06. Handled better due to the stiffer sidewall. The regular PS2 is actually a little to...
I may be getting a set next week. Been doing more reading and making more calls. Watched some videos and the tire looks to be kick @ss. It is completely redesigned and actually has posted better times supposedly then the regular PS2.
If I get them , I will be doing street driving in the hills...
You WILL have to remove the squeelers. They are riveted to the pad. I took some needle nose pliers grab on to them and wiggled a couple times and it broke off nice and clean. If you dont remove them, you will scracth the hat of your new rotors.
Im really tempted to just bite the bullet and try them. My rears are about worn out and I have a track day in November. I need new tires, so this would be a oppurtunity to give them street and track testing. Just means I get to be the guinnea pig. I didnt want to be "that guy" . lol
I just noticed that the tire they are putting on the ZR1 is a runflat. Its a PS2, like the OEM 2008 Viper but now made as a runflat. I started doing more research and it seems to be a sticky tire. I wonder if it has the darting charteristics like the old runflats on our cars.
Im curious who...
My best 60fts when I was N/A and had stock rims with the 345/30/19 PS2's were also in the 22-23 psi range. This was also a fairly warm tire.
I usually set tires at 25 psi whent I get to track, then slowly lower them and compare launches and 60 ft times. You'll find something that works for you...
How big of a lip did you use?
I have a 4" lip on mine with a 13" rear, the rear rim is even with back fender
And yes, its personal preference, was just curious as to why. I wasnt to fond of that color, but yours looks well put together.
Car looks great. But why did you go with the same section width 345 as stock, which actually the Nitto runs smaller, but go with a 13.5" rim, which is wider then stock. It looks kinda funny with the rear tire stretched like that. Otherwise nice choice of wheels and lowering stance.
Re: Vert owners, post your best pics. I may be leaning towards that for my next Viper
Knowing Bat, it will have coilovers and Iforged wheels. It makes such a difference on how the Viper looks once its lowered and has a nice set of 19/20" wheels on it. Its truly night and day.....
If the dealer charged you $400 to remove rear end and swap gears, thats a steal. Id call Jon B at Parts rack, order a quaife all setup, you can even get a different gear like the 3:33 for better accelleration. Shipped its about $3k. Have your tech remove old rear end, installl this one and you...
Honestly Im not sure what all they do, it was explained to me once and more work then i wanted to try doing, so I ordered it all built and ready to go with new gears.
Our cars are a pian compared to others. I used to have a Camaro, you could pull diff cover, swap gears and call it a day. On...
They will charge almost $400 or more just to remove and install the rear end. Then what are you expecting to pay to actuallremove the cover off diff, machine it and get the quaife to fit and gears all set up. Its more work the you think.
Well to install the Quaife takes work, you have to machine the rear end to get quaife to fit. I bought a exchange unit for $2900. It was built and had 3:33 gears installed and a whole rear end unit was shipped to my house. I didnt want to mess with myself or someone local messng it up. It does...
Re: Vert owners, post your best pics. I may be leaning towards that for my next Viper
SInce you live in SoCal, why not. We have great weather in Califronia. I was never a Vert guy, but went ahead and decided to try it out. I love the look of coupe and you get hassled less at tracks when you...
I was at ILLSMOQ's yesterday doing some flushing of all my fluids. Well, we both turned on our radios and listened to same station. ILLSMOQ didnt notice a big difference at first, he was looking for alot more bass.
But I noticed a BIG difference in sound. Not only can you turn it up louder...
