Mark -- Thanks; I see you answered the octane boost part of my question in the other thread: Bottom line, if you are taking a Mopar ECU-equipped car to a driving school/track then use 93 octane fuel. Folks with access to 92 octane should dump a full bottle of good octane booster in the tank to...
Whoa, I was not even aware that they were developing a 2008+ ported heads package. Thanks! I would love any details you can provide about these especially whether they will require the Mopar ECU to work properly with a Belanger-equipped car.
On the 93 octane issue, I do take my 2008 to...
I asked this also in the other thread but here in Oregon we have 92 octane. Would adding a full bottle of octane booster to an empty or near empty tank before fill up boost me from 92 to 93 octane? Or are those octane boosters essentially snake oil (no offense intended to the legitimate vendor...
Great news, Chuck Tator just posted the following info on another thread:
Stage 1 Engine Control Module - P5155254 MSRP $1159.00
2008-09 Vipers - Off road use Only
>Spark and fuel tables have been modified to function when "power adders" like headers, cat back exhaust, aftermarket cams and...
Chuck --
Thanks for posting this info; quick questions: (1) Because we have 92 octane premium fuel here in Oregon, would adding a bottle of the octane booster you see at the local parts store before filling up the tank get me to 93 octane? (2) Mark Jorgensen at Woodhouse posted that the...
Mark --
Thanks for the update and I tend to agree with you about the timing issue. If the suppliers are reviewing this thread, my "wish list" price point for this product given the benefits obtained would be in the $600-$1000 range. If the product was in this range and did not permanently...
I believe the Gen IIIs (2003-2006) have an LSD manufactured by Dana (sp?) called Hydra Lock? Could be wrong. I believe the LSD unit was improved/replaced by another manufacturer/model for the 2008-2009 cars.
I have owned a 2006 and 2008 vert and both were/are mechanically reliable but I have not crossed the 10,000 mile threshhold on either car.
2003-2006 Vipers came with Michelin Pilot Sport ZP (runflat tires) and the 2008-2009 cars came with the nonruflat Michelin Pilot Sport PS2, the latter...
I am also considering trading in an M5 for the new CTS-V; I would love your impressions of the car both in terms of performance, comfort and fit and finish over time. Thanks.

Doh! Thanks although now I just feel like an idiot. It would be great if we could consolidate all these threads regarding the Mopar ECU as my little brain can't seem to track more than one effectively.

Am I going crazy or was there a reply from Mark about the Mopar ECU ignoring the rear O2 sensors? I asked if this would impact DEQ "plug-in" type emissions testing (not sniffer or end of pipe testing). If so, is there a reason it was deleted? Thanks to our moderators for any clarification...
Mark --
Here in Oregon, our local DEQ emissions testing involve splugging into the OBD II port. I took my my Gen IV in for some voluntary emissions tests to see if the car passed with the Belangers installed. The car passed, with the exception that the "Catalyst" and ""02 sensor" emissions...
Agreed; I think the benefits of the ECU are tangible but for me it will depend on the price point of the product. Something in the $2,000-2,500 range is a little steep for me given the hp gain (15?) and torque gain (7?) and even considering increased tunability later. Hopefully we will find...
Mark --
Just so I am understanding you, does this mean that you will be taking a car with the Belanger setup, dynoing it without the Mopar ECU and then dynoing the same car again after the ECUinstall? Thanks.
/Rich
Mark -- thanks for posting the numbers; when you post the dyno results for the car with the Belanger system, would it be possible to quantify how much hp and torque difference the ECU produces?

Jon B can chime in here if his recollection is different but I asked him a similar question about wearing the 6-points on the street. My recollection is that Jon said he sometimes does it but wears the 6-points somewhat loosely to allow the torso to move in an impact and reduce the likelihood...
No problem. I actually checked out the Henessey webspage regarding the 1000; it looks like the GTR would be faster in some areas (0-60 of 2.6 versus 3.2 for the 1000, 1/4 mile of 9.9 versus 10.5 for the 1000 (although the 1000 has a much higher trap speed). Personally, I like to do track days...
