    Mods for Gen1

My '96 has mild intake and exhaust mods and I think it really is the icing on the cake. Your list of mods looks to be about perfect. IMHO, after those listed, the performance return on investment starts to go down. Installed rockers run about $2700. I think that's a bit steep for the...

How can we weed out FAKES like VENOM 800?

Why not just make one SECTION that has a POSTING limitation to owners only. Similar to the way the New Products section was limited to only tuners/suppliers. I read this board for over two years before I bought my Viper. The answers I received and even the car I purchased were a direct result...

    RT/10 hardtop made easy! (photos)

I can see in the pictures that the J hooks do not contact the weather stipping, but where DO they contact? I agree that the weight of the top should not be held by L hooks which compress the weather stipping, however, I don't want a J hook to puncture the headliner in the top either. Matt

    RT/10 hardtop made easy! (photos)

That is awesome. Very nice work. Well done. That in conjunction with a V-Mania top for us gen1 guys would be very convenient. I looked at the Fritzi hoist as well. It is about $150. How much did the parts for this lift cost? Where were the parts (hoist, cable, hooks) purchased? Thanks for the...

A few words about TNT Motorsports

Did they not have insurance on their personal vehicles and the contents of the shop? I've only heard good things about parts people have purchased from TNT. I'm sure repeat customers will be able to track them down. Hopefully this will help them rebuild their customer database. Matt

    Hardtop hanger

JMcGuire, Let me know how well the Fritzi hoist works with the flat Viper top. It is certainly an interesting idea. I'd still be a little concerned about the top dangling above my Viper though. Matt

Who has best price on extended warranty?

garolittle, The last time I spoke with a rep. at Steven's Crrek Dodge the answer was "Yes". DC will offer an extended service contract for up to four years on vehicles for the last 8 model years. You better hurry though, as soon as the 2002's are prevelant you won't be able to get a contract...

    Quietest high-flow mufflers?

That's where the XR1 mufflers are for the Borla cat back system. They place the mufflers there and use a straight pipe rear assembly. I'm not sure how quite the exhaust would be if you had high flow mufflers in both places. I believe the stock set-up has mufflers both in the side sills and in...

Who has best price on extended warranty?

Try doing a search of the archives for Warranty. Also give Stevens Creek Dodge a call at 408-248-1800, they have been one of the lowest for extended warranties. Matt

Re: Insurance for us \"under 25\" guys I'm 23 and I pay just over $100/month with Nationwide for, I believe 100K/300K coverage with a $500 deductable. This is half what Mercury wanted to charge me. Give them a call. BTW, I'm single, no tickets, no accidents. HTH, Matt

HELP! Brake dust won't come off!

Re: HELP! Brake dust won\'t come off! I recommend using the wheel cleaner from www.griotsgarage.com It is approved by BBS and it works great at removing brake dust. Chad, I believe that Ben has been using Apex Motorsports in Santa Clara. He also has had Ted May do some work on his car. Ted is the Viper tech for Steven's Creek Dodge. He also has a shop in San Jose named Valaya Racing. I take my car to Ted whenever I have work done. He's awesome. -Matt

Are all Vipers 50 state cars?

I believe the short answer to your subject line is "No, not all Vipers are 50 state emissions compliant from the factory." However, there is more too it than that. I believe the year matters. I believe later year Viper all conformed to the same emissions standards, but I don't know when and if...
