Installing the Harland Sharp roller rockers and everything in the instructions makes perfect sense except finding top dead center. How do I find it? Is there an easy way? I have a remote start button, but even when I use that, I have no idea when I actually hit top dead center. Any ideas for an...
That's some good info. Mine seems to be leaning about 1/4" as well... I only noticed it when I finally got the hood all the way off and I could see the engine and cowling straight on.
Do the Woodhouse mounts come in a full set for engine and transmission? I've heard them mentioned all over the...
OK, so I might not even need to replace the mounts... although I'll probably leave it for a future project (have way too many Viper projects in the pipeline). Thanks guys.
I'm guessing this means a mount or two have gone bad as the rest of the car is perfectly level. Is a tilting engine usually a symptom of bad mounts? I haven't been having any issues shifting.
Well, I got the hoist done and WOW, that hood is really heavy and awkward :( Think I'm going to need a crank... and unfortunately I still need two people to get the hood off the bolts.
Definitely a red helmet, I even got red rope to match. Let me respond before you say it Dave... I didn't...
Thanks for the info. 150... or even 125 is definitely within capacity of the hardware I'm using.
I'm a bit worried about that as well, last think I need is that thing falling on me. I'd even imagine the side fenders could come a bit too close to acting like a guillotine, ouch. I doubt there...
Question is: Anyone know the total weight of a stock Gen 2 hood? A close approximation should be acceptable also.
I'm designing a pulley system to safely and securely raise and hold the hood close to the ceiling while I'm working on the engine. Figured it would be a good solution to having...
Basically that's it, it should be the same for you. You'll still have the arrow light turn on, but you won't be blocked out of second any more. Check the illustrated how-to section of the VCA site, there's a guide with more detail.
I did notice in my '02 that the check engine light turned on...
Thanks! Figured as much. Seems that the plug has been out for some time, there's a nice build up of gunk making it pretty tough to get the plug back in. It's at a horrible angle too, cleaning it out is going to be a pain.
I was pulling the 1-4 skip shift plug from the transmission and noticed on the opposite side (right side if facing forward), there is a plug (black color) with two wires. I couldn't find this plug in the service manual, does anyone know what this is for? For some reason mine was unplugged (never...
Wow, I hadn't heard that. Definitely hope everyone is OK. I have no idea who it is. Hard to imagine what a "bad wreck" in a crowded place like SF means... can't be good.
Very good point about scissor lifts getting in the way of the underbody. I didn't realize that the kwiklift would allow you to get it up in the air and take the tires off. Definitely going to look into the kwiklift, that price sounds really reasonable.
Running PS2's actually. The pressure was something I thought might be the issue, but they're all at the same pressure that I left them with. For now everything seems fine, I'll probably have a tech take a look at it when I go for the tune up just to be safe.
OK, that should have been completely obvious to me :crazy2: Clearly without the car's weight on the rear wheel, the spring wont be compressed and have a little play. At least I don't think anything broke, best news I've had all day.
Seems like most of the lifts people discuss are for mainly storage and lift the car up via the wheels.
It takes me at least and hour just to get the car up on jacks right now. I have a small garage so it's a bit of a pain. I would ideally like to find something that will make it really easy to...
Quick update for those that care. I got the car up on stands and I found absolutely nothing wrong. I guess maybe I felt strange a bump and just overreacted heheh (easy to do when you've put 65k into a car).
Anyway, I did see one thing that made me curious. The springs on the rear shocks seemed...
Well, the last one was 10 years ago. If you can find it, it's all yours. If you're into something a bit more fresh, I can take the truck out one night and put put my high beams on...
Wishing me good luck can't be a good sign heh. I imagine I'll be calling Ted next week if it's worse than I'm expecting. About time for my 15k tune up too if I had to bring it down to San Jose.
Heheh, the roads are terrible here, even when they do fix them, two weeks later they're worse than they were before. No sea lions where I'm at, but I've hit a few deer in my day... plenty of those around.
I think you might be right. I didn't notice any oil on the garage floor when I put the rear up, I was laying on the concrete so I'd imagine I would have seen it... wasn't specifically looking for it though.
Best thing to do is get all the wheels off and see what I can find. Really don't want...
Was driving down the road in my only Viper (on your typical crappy California roads) and I heard a bang which I suspected was a blown tire (it wasn't really a pop but it was fast and only happened once). Right after the sound and at moderate speed the car was pulling to the right and bumps in...
