Just had to interject my opinion here. I do not track my Viper but I am a professional truck driver and the oversized truck I drive has ABS. The ABS did fail suddenly on me because of a broken sensor and a it was an unnerving experience to say the least in a multi-ton vehicle. My Chevy Blazer...
I like the wing and splitter because they have been proven functional and are not poser mods by any means when the ACR is used to abilities. I applaud Dodge for the ACR and for the 600hp with more to come.
If they are smart, they will launch the Viper into factory sponsored racing. True...
I concur that the color works well. A stopsign is a relatively minor accident. People are spending big money on rotisserie restorations of high volume old school muscle cars. Years from now, they will do the same with the low production Vipers needing restoration. In the meantine, Enjoy your new...
My guess is that Lutz, Shelby, and the rest of the historical fathers of the Viper in 1992 had no idea that the Viper would still be produced today. At the time, it was a last ditch effort to bring excitement to the hurting Chrysler brand. As the Viper developed into the GTS and won races in...
If I was shopping today, I wouldn't think twice. I would get an '08 over an '06. The differences in the total driveline combined with the return to regular rubber(not run flats) and 600 hp with a warranty justify the cost. I consider myself to be pretty tight with money but I have learned...
Got to get a Trailblazer, Gran Cherokee, or Durango to replace Blazer when it is time. Then I will need to replace my 6 cyl daily driver Camaro. The longer those DD winterbeater cars last, the more money I save for hopefully the next real sports car being a 09 or newer Viper.
We are...
My deepest sympathy for your loss. Glad everybody survived and are hopefully wiser. Is it possible that if you get the same year Viper that you could transfer some of your mods to the next one? I would also consider an 08 at this time but I bet you could get a killer deal on a Gen II...

I always question individual magazine testing. They could have run with the cars with uneven levels of fuel favoring one or the other. The tread level on one may have been lower than the...
Best decision DC has made in a long time to keep the price virtually the same. Makes the new Gen IV a better deal doller per hp. It will shake up the resale of previous Gen III Vipers but what a steal they will be for the buyers.
When I was shopping for my first Viper I had trouble with one young seller who had a red 01 RT/10. He said nothing about himself other than he was in the entertainment industry. I bought tickets to fly to go buy his Viper. I was planning on giving him a bank check. He was paranoid and needed...

0-60 is getting to be a poor test since the 1990's. The hp is getting so high on cars that there is traction issues with all the wheelspin. The 1/4 mile and even the standing mile are more of...
I am planning on doing something like that myself and getting it poster sized to frame on my wall. Your pics are a great reference. 2nd pic was best of bunch. Were the high beams on in the 6th pic?
First time I drove a Viper was a rental in Vegas. I can't remember actually what I paid but at the time it was a bargain and I had a wild yellow 1995 and drove it through Red Rock Canyon. Priceless experience that cemented my goal to buy one a few years later. Don't underestimate yourself...
That game is exactly what those who want all the electronic nannies should buy and stick with for racing. Playing the simulation is even safer than real cars with ABS, traction control, etc. Shifting in the game is easier than paddle shifting and those who want run flats need not worry about...

ABS sensors and ABS in genseral fails more often than you realize. I am not a racer (yet) but I drive an oversize truck 50hrs+/week with ABS. The sensor failed and I recognized it right away...
I bet it got there from people pushing the hood closed too hard. Maybe you could pop it from underneath. Either way, call me biased since I have the same black RT/10, but I LOVE your new Viper. Congrats.
I enjoyed reading your story. I hope the XLR-V runs well for you. I look foward to your future post announcing your next Viper and wondering why you left.
There is a black Ferrari and a black Gallardo in my neighborhood. As much as I admire them, in reality my black 2000 Viper will keep...
My Viper came with a Passport SR1 hardwired into the car. It has external sensors on front and back of car. Previous owner probably spent some bucks. I drive the same speeds as I would without it. The detector is a suppliment to keeping my eyes open and knowing the speed traps in the area.
Great thread. I have been contemplating this question myself however every time I drive my RT/10, I finish disappointed that the ride is over and I have to put it back in the garage. I have been lookiing at classic 60's and early 70's mopar muscle to add with the Viper but when the money is...
Sorry about your accident and I'm glad you are OK. I agree with above posts that letting go of it is the best option. The 08's are coming out this year with 600 hp and upgraded driveline. I am partial to the appearence of a Gen I or II (especially an ACR) so I can understand if you are...
