But think about it... if you get one of 35 (or whatever) 2013s, think what they will be worth in 20 years! One of a low production model year is a good thing.
:D
Frankly, the two proposed products seem different enough in both appearance and mounting method that I don't see what the beef is. For me, I like the idea of not having to cut or drill to install.
Based on the picture he posted. Please note that I said 'LOOK' bald. Apparently, based on his appraiser's report, LOOKS can be deceiving.
I maintain that, in the picture posted, many would erroneously conclude that the tires were worn.
Those rear tires look bald as a baby's butt.
More to the story....

I got a Black Edition for Christmas and LOVE it. The ability to see what you are filming, and control the camera via wifi with an iPhone app is killer. I like the wifi remote as well. I got a suction cup mount and a rollbar mount for vehicle use. I have a chest rig and helmet mounts for skiing...
What you interpret as 'cheapness' I interpret as vintage muscle feel. You like a high quality GT tourer, I prefer a modern interpretation of a Daytona Cobra. The Gen II GTS recalls the Daytona and the Gen V recalls the Gen II. The great thing is, now everyone can have what they want.
Funny, I drove Kelly Cobean's Gen IV ACR before he sold it and I preferred my Gen II. As I told him that day, the Gen IV felt like a car my wife could drive. Not what I want.
Gen IV is a nice car, but we all have different ideas of what we like.
