That is a friggen nightmare. I too have been anxious to upgrade my brakes and intend to reference a long running and current string on this topic. I may ultimately refrain from any mods whatsoever.
RockyTop ..... my sympathies!
You won't hurt anything but it might be desirable to establish baseline performance in order to at least subjectively quantify any performance enhancement. At 244 miles, I sincerely doubt you have had sufficient opportunity to gain such understanding. In other words, slow down!
This is a very compelling thread that is well worth absorbing. I've had brakes on my wish list for some time. The information posted will be most helpful in providing direction and expectations.
Thanks to all contributors .....

Thanks Matt .....
Short-throw shifter and skip-shift eliminator (the latter only if applicable). Definitely headers, 3" exhaust and high-flow cats (~40 rwhp). Some will say 3.54 gears; I wouldn't! The car makes so much power, even with the 3.07 gears it's hard to hook-up. Besides why compromise such...
Good question. Does the dash have a shinny or matte finish. My 99 had a matte finish with a blemish. Had it replaced under warranty. Unfortunately, the replacement has a shinny finish and sun glare coming off the dash is blinding. I understand that al replacement dashes have a similar...
Re: Ever find out you won a race you hadn\'t entered?
That just happened to me a few weeks ago. A friend wanted to see how well his juiced Z28 would do against the Viper at highway speeds. Subsequently, I was a bit uncomfortable but compelled to ask "were you on it?" I literally blew by him...
My $.02 worth .....
I've worn the five-points on the street because I thought they looked really cool when cruzin (silly but true). Reality is that the loss of cabin mobility greatly exacerbates the Viper's sail-panel blind spot rendering the use of such belts unquestionably hazardous. On...
I used Jet Hot for the headers on my ZR-1 and HPC on the Belanger Headers on my Viper. The HPC coating appears a bit smoother which is neither + or - just an observation. I put 20k on both cars without a problem. Do coat the headers!
Also, based upon the above information, I believe we can safely conclude that a Gen II GTS has a curb weight of ~ 3450 lb. Dare I say that a trip to the "fat farm" wouldn't be too out of line!
I don't know how you're able to remove brake dust and greasy road grime with a duster but so be it! Here's a tip for cleaning wheels on cars that perhaps see a bit more real world experience, especially those with BBS wheels.
In a word "Simple Green" (that's two words isn't it). Cleaning BBS...
I've been to a psychics and have been totally freaked out by some of the things they've said. Usually about the people and life situations though ..... never about cars. That's weird!

Wow ..... would I love to experience a Viper that weighs < 3,000 lb.

OK, consider this. An engine makes 500...
Hard to believe that the delta could actually be 13% to 15%. That's quite a bit to lose in the driveline. Does anyone have hard data to substantiate this correlation?
3380 lb. with fuel tank ~ 1/2 full (99 ACR with a/c and stereo).
I installed a full Belanger header/exhaust system w/o cats and weighed all components on a crude scale. I determined that the OEM system w/cats weighs the same as the full Belanger system w/o cats but with extra side sill...
So what exactly is it that you are offering? In-house tuning? ECM re-calibration (sans car) based upon configuration (stock, type mods, etc.)? Can I send my ECU for re-cal? Please elaborate.
Is burping really necessary for Gen II cars? I have a 99, its never been burped and never complained. I thought I heard that burping was strictly a Gen I issue only ......
