Cooler weather driving tip for new owners

Judicious application of all inputs is indeed prudent, especially so in cold weather . I would add, however, that cold weather is no reason to put the snake in hibernation. The car absolutely loves the cooler air and feels even more like the true thoroughbred that it is. Even during the...

    Apex Snakebox Performance Results .....

I installed the Snakebox last week and have driven a total of 542 miles since then, including several miles on the East Road Course at Pocono on Saturday. Thus far, the Snakebox has delivered the advertised results - low speed engine surging and sputtering have been eliminated; the foul exhaust...

    Test Drive Joke?

The very first time I drove a Viper was after I purchased my 99 ACR. It never occurred to me that the car wouldn't be a great fit and meet my every expectation. I jumped in and drove it home like I'd been driving it for years. If you decide to buy a Corvette because a dealer will easily...

    Airbox rain-baffle cutout.

Nadine: I assume the purpose of the exercise is to have a temporary rain baffle should really nasty conditions prevail, but otherwise enjoy the benefits of laminar flow. Agreed?

How do you make shifter longer?

Sounds like the vibration isolator/dampner was removed. Replacing it should lengthen the shifter by ~ 2.5".

    stripes or not?

Stripes without a doubt. Color is a more personal choice, but I would choose black. My ACR was all silver. I added black stripes (painted by East Coast Performance) which took the car to a whole different level. Viper = Stripes

Call Borla and get their opinion. I just learned that Belanger does not recommend wrapping the headers.

Balanger Headers with O2 SENSORS ?????

The low speed surging and a/f ratio mapping issues are a function of rear O2 sensors' inputs that tell the ECU if the cats are working properly. If you leave the cats on, you won't have a problem. If you remove the cats, then the Apex Snakebox solution will be necessary. The front O2 sensors'...

how to install B&M short shifter (ripper shifter)

I purchased a short throw shifter from SVSi and performed the installation myself. I spoke with SVSi regarding installation and learned that they remove the transmission to R&R the shifter. If you have the resources and equipment, I suppose that may be a reasonable alternative. If your an "at...

Check Engine Light - Apex Solution

I had the Snakebox installed earlier today; my car has a complete Belanger header/cat-back without cats. Only about 30 miles of driving, but thus far no surging at low engine speeds and the nasty exhaust smell has largely been eliminated (probably due to a screwy a/f ratio). The tech cleared...

Who here has owned a Corvette Prior to a Viper?

Ehh, who hasn't? I've owned 11 and sold a 94 ZR-1 to buy the Viper. I love Corvettes and would never poo-poo the car, but I've also never looked back.

Same setup - same problem. I ordered a snakebox from Apex that supposedly cures the problem (eliminates the surging, a/f ratio mapping and c/e light). I will post the results once known.
