The numbers are great, and I hope the motor lasts.
But claiming that a 150 shot gave you 163hp and 250lb's torque at the wheels, is like saying you got 150 dollars from 100. The nitrous jet is obviously bigger than a 150 shot, it could be from the bottle pressure or just from too big of a...
What Joseph said all that work and you are going to put a restriction plate on it.
Far as the factory fuel line goes its 5/16 on its best day, good luck making power reliably on that.
Chad,
You can get a normal serial cable cut off the end put some individual connectors on it. you will need to attach them individually to obd2 and make sure its on the right pin, but it will work just fine. Call AEM tech they will be able to tell you how to do it.
Chuck,
I was just playing around with my cars motor moving it around to try and get more space for the turbos.
The only issue I see is you will need to get some custom motor mounts and adapters made if your goal is to lower it only a few inches. If you want to do more than that you will need...
R compound tires, and your fear of what little a stock viper has for power will be gone. For instance a buddy of mine has a gen 2 gts with an honest 700rwhp on a paxton setup (14psi) and he has a hard time breaking his kumho v710's loose in anything other than 1st gear. And the thing handles...
The dyno numbers actually seem very believable, unfortunately most dyno facilities don't give you real numbers they give you the numbers you want to see. Im sure Bottlefed would love to see 800rwhp on the exact same setup and tune, but only if thats what the car really made not what the dyno...
Thats alot of timing, way too much timing, way way too much timing. If it was my car it would not see any more than 15 degrees and even that would be on good fuel.
Far as your popping goes it can be many things.
Sorry didn't realize you had gears, that and starting at 2500rpm made the pull seem very short.
Dont you find yourself just all over the road with that type of power with such short gears?
Re: I know I'm in for a world of bashing, but what are your thoughts of an LSX motor.
Use stock everything except for pistons, unless you happen to have a forged piston car.
So the only expense you should have is a gasket set, bore/hone, pistons, rings. That will do 1000hp all day long, and...
Re: I know I'm in for a world of bashing, but what are your thoughts of an LSX motor.
A good LSX motor will not be any cheaper than a viper motor. Not to mention that the viper motor will ultimatly be able to produce more power and handle more power.
The only real advantage would be the...
Nate,
Have you found an engine builder for yourself yet? If not you need to start looking.
Driving a car hard that is so poorly tuned there can be only 1 result. Take the car to a tuner stop trying to blow it up, unless you really want to spend 10k on a rebuild.
While Dave6666's method is crude, he is not giving you bad advice.
If you continue to drive your car with potential serious issues you are not doing your self any favors. If there is an over heating problem its something that needs to be checked out and fixed before you even start the car...
1TONY1,
My car did not have that metal part on the fuel canister. My thoughts on the subject when going into the project was that the regulator was something you could remove which sat on top of the gas tank, as every subject on the viper forums suggests. This is not the case, at least not on...
The problem with the stock fuel pump is its regulated mechanicaly to 55psi by a mechanism inside the pump. So if you dont go over 55 psi of fuel pressure you should be ok. But if you go higher the pump will start to bleed off fuel and your no longer going to be able to support the power you...
Just finished today with my twin 255 setup and we used the factory power to trigger the relay to activate the 2nd pump.
Make sure you DO NOT re use the factory walbro as one of your pumps it has a built in regulator and will cause you nightmares.
Like 1TONY1 we used the factory canister...
Considering you have some track experience.
With your mods and the 20" wheels 12.6, after some practice runs, put on some good tires and high 11's. Put on slicks like your old timer there and low 11's after practice.
Do a search before you purchase mods that loose power.
Anything other than a factory air box is going to loose power, been there, done that, spent a day or two on a dyno to prove it.
A setup like the one you bought is probably worth -20hp at the wheels, enjoy.
