Thought I'd update this post. The glue held up till 2016. The hatch is back to being unhinged on one side. 4 years is not great but not bad either. I wish I had a permanent solution.
OTOH, my GTS is celebrating 20 years today. What a joy!
Thanks guys. The TPS trick seems to have solved the problem. Now that it has learned it, the engine does not stall at idle. Thanks.

Drumrboy,
This was after it's warm.
ViperTony,
I'll try the TPS trick and let you know.
I did get a successful OBD inspection today for DMV registration purposes.

So I got the snake out of hibernation and now the engine seems to lose revs when I'm idling or slowing down at a stop light and then dies.
Diagnosis so far:
The battery does not seem to be the problem as it is fully charged and only 6 months old.
The alternator doesn't seem to be a problem...
Nice car. And nice to see the '97 value still holding up. 15 years and 30K less than list is really sweet. It's basically driving a Viper for about $2K a year in depreciation costs. I can't believe that nobody sees that the car is bottoming out in depreciation. Over the next 15 years, it's going...
To SRT or not?
IMHO, the Viper and the Vette will always be their own brand. The Dodge and Chevy labels were unnecessary. The Vette does not even have the Chevy name on it! This whole SRT business is just political within the Chrysler bureaucracy designed to help the fat cats survive.
So while...
I had a very hard time. Everytime, I turned the puller nut, the vise that the pump was in came loose. Eventually I had to screw the vise down and use a 1/2" breaker bar. Penetrating fluids were useless. I have never used as much force (even on truck bolts) as I had to use on this stupid pulley...
And just to confirm, the PS pulley is the big pulley on top left (driver) side, right? Also, the service manual says NOT to switch to a metal pulley (I'll post the exact language in the evening). Why on earth would something like that be documented?

My serpentine belt got ripped up yesterday and I replaced it with Dayco PolyRib Belt. 2 questions:
1. Any comments on this belt. It's V lines are not as pronounced as the OEM belt which is backordered from Chrysler.
2. My power steering pulley was wobbly. Is this normal? In the short time I had...
It's mainly useless and cosmetic. Basically it breaks the lines on a long hood. The right one is the AC intake. Same with the vents above the front wheels. Mainly useless, I've never seen them vent any heat but feel free to blast me if I'm wrong.

I'd like to remind potential buyers the rules of supply and demand. If too many people feel inclined to put them on a list without a set price, then demand might exceed supply and MSRP will go up. It's just how it works. If after 4 generations of building Vipers, Chrysler cannot figure out it's...
Wikis' are written by people. They can be wrong. I have never heard of a parts difference between the front and rear bumpers on a GenII. Since that's all that sticks out, i have to say the wiki is either wrong or Chrysler had the initial spec wrong and subsequently corrected it. I'll check my...
I hate automotive LEDs because most implementations look weird. I'd rather have them in a clustered circle pattern than in eyebrow or eyeliner pattern. I think the clustered circle is functional, cool and classy.
But I do agree with ACR_steve that they are here to stay. And now that Philips has...
I do it all the time. The chassis is so stiff, at times it seems that the 4th jack is not needed. I have jacked it up completely with 3 jacks. :lmao:Freaky cool! So to worry about it's stability is a joke. It's going nowhere unless you jacked it wrong. Be safe.
