That is sad, and lucky for you that you knew where to go. Most prospective buyers might be done with shopping for a VIPER before they barely get started...perhaps buying nothing at all.
I'll refer anyone I know that I think would like the car anyways, but any form of a "thank you" would be a nice gesture of appreciation if he bought. Happy and enthusiastic customers generate referrals among friends all by themselves. If you're referring to a dealer directing a prospective...
I believe this is the single biggest problem for cross-shoppers when going in to the dealer to look at one, based on the countless showroom stories of poor treatment at many dealers. Hearing that, I prepared for the worst, managed to make my purchase decision based on this forum owner's...
You're right. In the $65-$75 k range you expect a tarted up version of a lesser mass produced car. But it's takes a big jump in price to get from there to a hand built supercar, intentionally produced in small numbers. I think the optimistic goal was upwards of 1600-2000 unit/yr. We're all...
Exactly...the Gen V is not a purpose built race car...it's much more useful than that! It was designed as a world class high performance super car that's very capable on the road course, if not dominate it, and all models proved their success on the road course with all three finishing in the...
Great feedback...thanks for posting! Being able to enjoy driving to and from the track, and having that sort of performance on track, is why I ordered one. Did you end up installing a harness? Please keep us updated in the future!

Some think 640 is underpowered but you can't say it underperforms. It's designed to kick ass on the road course, not drag strip, and it is unbeaten. One day it will be and maybe SRT will address that if and when it happens. For now it's mission accomplished. It uses minimal tech because...
It's more about the changes in hardware and handling than the slight difference in a lap time by Randy Pobst. Much of that hardware just isn't available on the SRT, and not even in 2013 when they had the Track Pack. Where they tried to differentiate the SRT as the track car and the GTS as the...
Couldn't agree more.
Just as an aside, I think there have been all kinds of exceptional cars that weren't appreciated until after they were no longer built...and once the market figured that out the demand for them took off! I've been fortunate to spot a few used ones that were really...
I saw a sales figure of 91 cars sold for Jan-Feb 2014, which might actually be good compared to other exotics priced over $100k during two brutal winter months.
I still can't see anything wrong with the price or performance, just the situation that has been created by having too many highly...
Aren't half the Vipers on the road verts...so it could double sales. I haven't even received my TA yet but know I'll want a vert when they come out (if it has roll-over hoops).
Thanks for sharing. I also agree that a limited few fall into a bit of a black hole for pricing between the more mass produced performance cars and the European exotics. I considered a used exotic, but I couldn't get into the more angular and wedge shaped designs, and servicing and reliability...
Just curious what it was about the Gen V that caused you to buy a Viper now. All cars have pros and cons that buyers weigh out, and it would be interesting to hear how other's decision making process led them to the V.

Black TA 23/33 coming soon
There is a 2015, and dealers ordering them doesn't sound like a problem at all. Customer picks the model/options/color, pays deposit and dealer orders! Simple. The dealers that ordered too many 2013 or 2014, or the wrong combos, will blow them out the same way as any other car they want to...
Well that is impressive...congrats! Did you tuck the harness out of sight or leave it exposed for the judging? Do you have a photo showing the completed install with the lap belt portion?
I've discussed with the dealer and he understands my reservations. SRT informed me that the car will start being built sometime next week and should be complete by around April 1st and head to shipping. Hopefully that won't take too long so we can complete the sale with trade-in early April...
Thanks for all your thoughts. The liquidity of the dealer is one I hadn't thought of. I'm not suspicious of the dealer at all, and Chelseasnake's positive experiences and recommendations led me to them. Doing a transaction in a clean and business-like manner would normally protect both...
The car on order hasn't been built and is still a month or so away from delivery, but the dealer has asked for my XKR convertible trade-in. While I don't expect there to be any issue with the new car or the dealer, it seems a bit risky to have already given up my trade, and not sure how a...
Yeah right. Here's one of your more positive Gen V posts...
"I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I thought about buying a new blue with white stripe GTS to match my 96 in the garage. To have the old and the new side by side. But the new car couldn't hold my 96's jock strap. And you know damn good...
Very positive review. I'm curious as I haven't watched their reviews...are they normally so positive about vehicles they review? Do they typically tend to report on the positives and gloss over any negatives in order to please the manufacturers? This one sounded a lot like a promotional video...
