Brakes, yes, but not finishers until 2014 where all models got them. The optional Track Package was very desirable on '13 SRT and GTS models as it also gave you the lightweight Sidewinder II wheels and Corsa tires, which in 2014 became individual options on both SRT and GTS, and standard on the TA.
You already have them on your Track Pack car...so apparently they aren't any good (or you just don't know how good they are yet :) ). Do they seem inadequate on the race track, or just around town?
I don't think a damper change alone is the answer as dampers would more control the "rate" of dive as opposed to the springs being responsible for the "amount" of dive. You might find the stiffer springs and matched dampers from a TA more to your liking, and Mark's suggestion of the MCS system...
Using the GT-R as an example of a manufacturer using technology to make a dominating drag, road race and driver's car is not accurate in my experience. One non-track friend owned the first Canadian GT-R in '09 after owning a couple of Ferraris and sold it because of it's poor road manners...he...
I think technology has changed the market completely, and rewritten all the old rules. Each feature you mention as being a possible path to your Viper Holy Grail moves it further away from someone else's. There's usually benefits and compromises involved. SRT knew they couldn't make a Viper...
Sept 19, 2014
This is one tough track. Built in 2006, it’s set into a highland wilderness in north eastern Ontario, 3 ¼ hrs from my home, and just an hour west of Ottawa, the country’s capital. Popular among the locals for its proximity, its tight layout and 20 technical corners give...
Re: Track Attack #11, New tires, best lap time, max g’s, 991 Turbo S…and the big ques
Pathogy,
Thanks, and these lapping days are really mostly about car guys more fully appreciating their high performance cars in a legal and controlled manner that's much safer than anything you can do on the...
Re: Track Attack #11, New tires, best lap time, max g’s, 991 Turbo S…and the big ques
Thanks guys.
The Vette was likely on a cool down lap as I'd never catch him otherwise. He and the ACR-X run in the 1:26 range to my 1:34's. It's actually a tube frame race car with full carbon fiber body...
Sept 3, 2014 – '14 Viper TA at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (Mosport)
My last track event was here just two days ago, and the last on the original front Corsa tires. They had worn very well over 10 track days and 14,000 kms (~8000 miles). Today I was on new fronts that were just installed...
I have a '14 TA and recently discovered they are lower than the other models. That helps explain why I seem to scuff the splitters with not much of an incline or rise. You do have to be very conscious of driveways, entering and exiting slowly and on an angle. I cannot imagine taking it in and...
Bait is right...tisk, tisk.
I have hot lapped on a road course with every car mentioned in this thread so far and none have been quicker than the TA, comparing stock to stock. But lap times become more dependant on driver skill at this rarified level anyways, and I'd suggest the better driver...
Yes, 1.5g is the max it will display, and I've recorded it under braking now as well. I'll check datalogging I've been doing recently as well to try to see if I can better see what the actual max is.
And the TA's "wider" part is referring to the pad surface area that leads to the increased swept area.
Don't know about the sway bar's construction or stiffness, but can tell you they absolutely nailed it along with the rest of the suspension for optimized at the limit handling on track.
Everything you ever wanted to know...http://www.rssportscars.com/wsfiles/specs/2014_SRT_ViperGTS_SP.pdf.
Where items are listed as "available", the "Track Pack" bundled many of them in 2013 only, much to the disappointment of many 2014 buyers. 2014 buyers had to order the available pieces...
Track Package was 2013 only and among other things included Sidewinder II wheels with Corsa R-Compounds and 2pc Stop Tech rotors. The brakes are the only part of the Track Pack that made it on to the GTS for 2014 AFAIK, and the wheels and tires became options, standard only on the TA.
There are sometimes those who are responsible for developing a plan and those who are responsible for executing it. We really shouldn't assume she was the architect of the plan.
That sounds reasonable to me, and from what you said it is the car and color combo you want. I think it's easy to fall into the trap of thinking you should be able to steal any Gen V you find because on the forums you can get the impression that everybody is, but I suspect that is not the case...
I thought the blue with white stripe GTS Launch Edition color scheme was only offered in 2013 on the actual numbered LE cars. They would be available now for considerably less than buying a 15 if you want a GTS trim level car.
I couldn't be happier. The car is just so special to drive, stunning to look at, and those with an XKR that think it gets a lot of attention just have no idea. Every time you drive it it's an event. The car reminds you each time that it's an exotic, from it's appearance, to contorting to get...
I've documented my ownership, driving and tracking experiences extensively. This is a particularly descriptive one, and many others can be found by checking my profile.

I can tell you after 9000 miles and 12 days on the road course that at least the TA doesn't have any handling issues at all...not even a single slight peculiarity. I've tracked it in the rain, in oppressive heat, drove mine to a track day on Friday in freak low 20's temps and on track at below...
