AFAIK ABS always yields the quickest stop by keeping the tires planted to the road where friction can do its job in decelerating the car. That was a top consideration for me in my Gen 2 search. While highly skilled drivers can approach the stopping efficiency of ABS in a non-ABS car, most don't...
I used Harbor Freight's screw-drive fork units (one on each side) to R&R my rear springs (to swap the perch mounts) with no problem. A lot easier if you use an impact wrench (air or electric) to spin the rod up and down.
So I should save the rears I just removed from my '01 that worked fine for 13K miles as someone may have a use for them? Are they a one-off Viper application?
As a VCA member with a previous VCA vendor complaint, I did ask for assistance and someone from VCA made a phone call to me and later to the vendor to facilitate resolution. It worked. Perhaps it is just a member accommodation?
Yup. My lowly experience driving a diesel Jetta with DCT (VW calls it 'DSG' or 'Direct Shift Gearbox') supports the great potential of a DCT if it scales up to Viper HP.
With no cruise control, I'd seriously think about some way to relieve your right leg once in awhile without having to stop. I did this in a '71 bug with a stick that I would use to periodically press on the accelerator . . . unsafe but worked well! Also, don't know when your clutch hydraulics...
Best bet would be to go through the trouble of removing the battery (I know, a PITA itself) and bringing it inside on the battery maintainer of choice.
This pink 'Pepto Bismol' looking stuff should work well in the Viper diff (don't forget to add a dose of anti-slip lube as well). I use the shock proof in the CARC final drive on my Moto Guzzi with no issues.
All great suggestions here. I've been putting this fix off by simply pulling up slightly on the door handle but plan to eventually match-mark the four bolt positions and loosen slightly and adjust in small increments.
For those with the worn door detent hold spring (me included), be careful not...
I would like to suggest you move to the Viper in Nevada. Having lived near you in Irwin/Harrison City for 8 years, it would be a good change (for the sunshine alone).
SoFL is rethinking that commitment and this week Mr. Ilver asked the SoFL members to express their preference for VOA or VCA (instead of just a unilateral decision by someone).
Get both the pulley and pump bracket replaced. Remove the pump so you can cut the metal hub off and put on the new pulley without moving the pump shaft. Is JonB's pulley IPSCO Mark's?
Had mine fail at 12xxx miles. It's a hostile environment in the bellhousing and the the rubber seals in the slave just can't take it after 10 years or so. Has more to do with heat than anything else I suppose.
A bit further north, but Vero Beach dodge is also Gen V territory. Owner is a muscle car fanatic and we had great satisfaction with our Challenger SRT8 purchase there. Weve been to Wallace for warranty work and were pleased. Arrigo is a mega-dealer that I would not recommend (have purchased from...
