I was surprised at that number. I see the NARRA registration site shows 103 entries, so I expected more than 49 Vipers. I understand this is a combined event with PBOC and the number of cars will be 200 ish.
Well, I do get kind of defensive about Carbotech; the people who own it are like family to me! :)
I was thinking about it though, maybe my wear is more similar to yours than we initially thought. When I go to a race at a track I know, I go out a do a few laps in qualifying, than race for 45...
Thanks for chiming in, Mark.
I brake between the 3 and 4 marker going in to Turn Five at Road America. We are seeing about 165 MPH before I stomp on the brakes. I jsut cannot get to the 3 marker yet, I am not "there" yet, if you know what I mean!
I have had several competiting drivers comment...
Did you use new rotors? If the rotors have material from another brake pad manufacturer, that will cause problems.
I use 16s on the front, 10s or 8s (depending on track conditions) on the rear. Not trying to be a jerk, but I am pretty sure I use my brakes harder than you do (we see 1.80 Gs on...
I agree it being a "bucket list" track. I raced in the first sanctioned event on the new pavement this January. I was tearing up when the National Anthem was being played and I was all belted in ready to go. Me, this dumb hunky from Youngstown, Ohio getting to do some really neat things in my...
The "word" on the street was the Porsche had 650+ at the rear wheels and weighed 3150 lbs! I was overmatched in the car area, and maybe even driving ability. Oh well, it's only racing.
Bill, thank you for the kind words. This past week was a trying one for me and Kryderacing. The event was full of ups and downs.
Sunday was a test day. Third lap of the day I was under the track record. I didn't have my lap timer display turned on and I cannot hear my crew over the radio with...
Here are links to video press coverage of the event:
The hosts, Errol Tucker and Peter Keane, are buddies of mine. They discuss my STO race (and others) at the beginning, my post race interview is at the 3:04 mark and go to the 23:45 mark for a recap of the race...
Sorry I couldn't defend my title for Viper Nation, but that was truly one of the best races I have ever run. I can honestly say I drove the wheels off of my Viper. If the race would have gone the full distance, I may have gotten by the Porsche.
The "unfortunate" incident that Jim is referring...
Viperless: the 345s are about 4% taller than the 335s, so your effective gear ratio is changed. Whe I ran T1, at every track not called Road America, the shorter tire was preferred. In STO, because I can use any rear gear, I use the taller and wider 345-35.
My tire combination is 315 front and...

Does anyone know if there is a vendor who makes a lightweight Lexan (or polycarbonate) rear glass for a Gen 3/4 coupe? I already have a windshield. I know of a company named Shields, but their website does not list any glass for Vipers.
I tried looking last year when I first started on my car...
