BIG news for Dodge - and great for the Viper!
WHOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!!! Huge congrats to Ralph. He deserves ALL the good things coming his way and we know that he'll make sure the Viper and the rest of the Dodge cars are all spectacular. Hope he doesn't forget the "little people" now that he's a CEO. (And prior to 40, too - how cool!)- Janni

I think the "no so obvious" benefit is the most important. After tracking or even autocrossing a Viper, you realize that there's nothing you can do on the street that will give you that same euphoria as hitting hte high speed esses perfectly at VIR, or heading into a four wheel drift around...- Janni

I don't believe that there is a problem selling them now - and viper only builds for orders from dealers.... so - don't laugh at a price increase - between supplier BKs, Fiat ownership, other constraints - an increase is a possibility - it's happened almost every year....- Janni

Prices change - there are no guarantees. The plant WANTS to be open - but - there are problems with suppliers - like I said - going bankrupt, their suppliers having problems with deliveries, productions at some suppliers shifting to higher volume products, etc. It's an unprecedented time in...- Janni

Don't cancel your car. We had a $5K price increase from early in 2009 to the time we took delivery. There are simply no more guarantees about viper production anymore. Plant up, plant down, suppliers in, suppliers out, bankruptcies disrupting other suppliers - you name it. There's no...- Janni

Honestly - the ESC debate is a moot one. it's coming - it will be mandated by the government in what? 2012? HOWEVER - I would like it's implementation to be as unintrusive as possible. I don't want it to save your bacon no matter how ridiculous a stunt you pull. I don't want it kicking in...- Janni

Almost a year - worth the wait
It's nice to have a street car - it'll likely see light track use - but the comp coupe is the ultimate track car with it's data acquisition and safety features - nothing like a real roll cage. It'll get belts, and then an extra set of wheels for some PS2s, then exhaust, etc. but - that will...- Janni

Gen-4 ACR wing in a Gen-2 GTS
There is a GTS-R wing available for the GTS - it's about as large as a picnic bench and very functional. Why no electronic stability control, etc?
ESC is coming - it will be mandated. How it gets implemented will be key. What else comes with it will be key. As long as it is 1) defeatable and 2) as unintrusive as possible, I know the guys at SRT will try to keep it from ruining the experience of the Viper. But - for those of you that...- Janni

I am sitting @ Featherstone Road right now - no more FREC -all moved into main bldgs. PIcked up our ACR this morning. Let's leave the car what it was meant to be - there are enough cars in the nanified ranks as it is. RIght now - the Viper has no peers. As it should be.- Janni

So - we turn it into a 'vette competitor and then we get ALL SORTS of people cross shopping the Viper with the 'vette (it'll lose, too expensive), the Jag (lose again, too American), the Aston (it'll lose, see prior), the GTR (lose again - too American) So we'll then have a car that no longer...- Janni

I think I can say with 100% certainty - no. If you want a Viper - don't wait. 2010 won't getcha anything other than perhaps a color or trim choice not available on 2009. And waiting may just end up hastening the Viper's demise.- Janni
