After the forth visit for the passenger side power, the mirror it still doesn't work--they installed a new painted mirror but the new mirror didn't work either. They traced a lot of wiring then decided it must be the switch on the drivers door--which I suspected all along. New switch ordered...
I really enjoy seeing the cars in the garage and as a special treat I take them out for a drive or a car show. Then I enjoy detailing them to perfection just for fun. I'm sure I'm an odd ball for using them this way but it's what I enjoy and have fun with.--2010 Viper--900mi.,2005 Viper-3600mi...
Bad rain today so switched the service for tomorrow. Rain cleared in the afternoon so I took the 2010 out and discovered the horn now works again. Will go in for the power mirror. This is the third visit for the mirror--1st to diagnose and order mirror, 2nd to discover the paint on the new...
My 2010 horn doesn't work at all--going to the dealer for that as well as for a non-working power passenger mirror--900 miles on her--let you know what the dealer does or does not do. This little test will determine if I spend the 130K for the Gen5. Will not buy a Gen5 if I can't get good...
I tried the 3M clear spray using my daily driver as the pig. The stuff works very well--did the whole front end of a 2013 Explorer for $25.00 and about 2 hrs of work--mostly taping off the areas I did not want to coat. I've put on 3K with no problems at all. The only thing you have to be careful...
I tried the 3M Paint defender that is sprayed on. Can cost $24.99 at Auto Zone. Did the whole front end of my 2013 Explorer with material left. It came out beautiful. Took about 2 hours to do including masking off areas of the car. I did this to try it for a year. It's supposed to peal off...
Have you guys looked into the new spray coating available at the auto stores? I just saw the stuff advertised on TV. Apparently you spray it on any area you want to protect and peal it off later. It's a clear coating. Might be the ticket for track days or for long trips. I've not seen it...
Tony--
Thanks for such an informative write up. You answered many of my concerns as well as many of my thoughts regarding the comparison between the Gen3/4. Your honest statements are my thoughts when I drove a Gen 5 at VOI and at a dealership here in Sarasota. Obviously I like white also...
With paint that expensive I'd use blue painters tape on the lower body when at the track because the clear bra will get blasted by sand and become dull from the sand impact. The tape is very easy to install and remove after the track. Ask how I know--Dave
My 2010 Viper coupe only had a CD disc as the owners manual. There was a way to get a hard copy of the owners manual which I did. Way too much hassle having to go to the computer to look something up in the CD disc. I'm sure that you can find a phone# to order a hard copy of the manual...
In my humble opinion the only way SRT will get bigger numbers than in the past is to go AUTOTRANS like the other super cars. You cannot buy a manual Ferrari. The new auto trans are much faster shifting with no missed shifts. Many will rev match when down shifting. The Viper race car is an...
Saw a red Gen 5 in Sarasota tonight running on the John Ringling causeway. A GTS I think. Have to admit that it was hard to tell it apart from older Vipers--really not that distinctive from what's out there from years past. I know that's heresy to say that but it's truly what happened to me. The...
You should not have to use the key in Battery save mode as the drivers door is unlocked in that mode--at least that's the way my Gen 4 has worked. I've never locked the car after entering the battery save mode.---Dave
