    Sixth gear ratio replacement

Sixth gear being pretty useless except for high speed cruising, has anyone replaced it with a different ratio. I notice that Giwasa in Spain market a kit for this. Any experiences ? Giwasa at www.Giwasa.com

Keep mine clean with a cloth, brush and white spirit, doesn't discolour anything and leaves a very slight protective residue

THE BEST PERFORMACE CAT BACK EXHUAST SYSTEM

I listened to several systems and thought the Belanger sounded best with the borla second, which I went for because it is stainless. Didn't get to hear the 3" Corsa though. My borla fitted well as did the belanger headers but with hi flo cats it is loud.

High speed accidental 2-1 or 3-2 shift disable

Having managed a painful sounding but I think undamaging 4th to 3rd instead of 5th I like this idea very much. Having shifted with my left arm all my driving life its a little difficult to get a perfect right hand change everytime, at least thats my excuse.

U.K VIPERS TRY FOR THE U.K 200 MPH CLUB

I'm really looking forward to this one although I think we might have a distance problem even though it's one of the longest runways. Your viper I think has a different axle ratio so it'll be interesting to see the effect there. Hope we get good weather for it and I hope the snakes have the...

    performance clutches -better than stock

Not very sure what type, kevlar something or other, reccommended by JonB and not much dearer than standard so I thought I'd fit it at the same time as Al flywheel. Hope its ploughing through the Atlantic at this very moment on its way to dear old Blighty.

    External engine measurement please

Fought my way through the cobwebs into the hibernation den(garage) and whipped out my stick to find that from back of alloy crossmember to front face of top of pulley is 30mm. Try checking down at the gearbox mounting to see if it is moved around. That might give you a better idea than your...

    Reccommendation for Big Brake Kit

Brad, I think I may at some time this year be interested in Dan's stoptech setup, as it would sound ideal for street and occasional track use. Sounds like the bias problem has been well sorted due to those stopping distances, but whats it like on a wet surface, is the bias still acceptable in...

    Bulb Change???

I remember there was a real bulb frenzy on the vette forum about a year ago, lots of good info and discussions, might be worth doing a search there for bulb types etc

    AL. Flywheel: One last time...

"Joel, I think me and you are on the same wavelength. I wish I could remember more of my basic physics! Wouldn't the heavier flywheel also have more energy stored in it at a given RPM due to the fact that it is denser than AL?" Yes, thats spot on, but it can only release that energy when it...

    AL. Flywheel: One last time...

I've got to come back here. The lighter flywheel cannot make a difference to flywheel or rwhp. It will allow the motor to spin up faster and reach the revs at which max hp is produced but will not affect the value of that hp. This may show up an anomaly of the dynamometer which was discussed in...

    Stick with Mobil 1?

When mobil 1 was introduced the advertising blurb included a strip down of a BMW 4 cyl engine with over 100K miles and no measureable wear (probably a first for a BM engine !!) Thats gotta say something for the oil even if they did say it themselves

New viper may not become a classic, not enough swoopy curves

In my opinion the GTS gen II is one of the most handsome and charismatic cars of current times, maybe not beautiful in the way of a Ferrari but very attractive in a can't get enough of it way . I just can't feel the same about the gen III. I'd be delighted to own one but maybe not enough to put...

Black Sooty Substance in Exhaust Pipe of 95 RT/10??

The cats mission is to remove as many contaminants as possible or at least convert them to a less obnoxious form, this it does well. As its precious metal content is 'used' up in its life it works less efficiently. Oil burning engines will kill a cat sooner as would leaded fuel and the wrong...

Black Sooty Substance in Exhaust Pipe of 95 RT/10??

In the good old bad old pre-cat days exhausts use to be stinking and sooty black. Now however apart from initial start-up when the cats are cold, hence those marks on walls, the exhaust should be fairly clean inside and not too sooty. Even my hi-flo cats are keeping my exhaust cleanish

    AL. Flywheel: One last time...

In the nicest possible way I'm going to disagree with Jason with the increase in HP issue. Since HP is a measure of work done, lightening the reciprocating weight won't make a difference, however if will make a difference in the length of time required for the motor to reach the rpm at which it...

    Wheelspin at last, yippee

Rascal That sound like a great offer, I'd be delighted to take you up on that. Hope to make it to some of the UK meets before Lemans so with any luck I'll meet you at one. It would be interesting to try our vipers (on a private road !!) side by side to see how they compare. Anyway, hope to see...

    Wheelspin at last, yippee

Actually the restriction is not that great, and consists mainly of an easily removed baffle in the airbox ( which rascal has removed ). There are some ECU differences and the blessing of only two o2 sensors. THe ECU change is apparently a fuel related thing and power is about 15hp less ( I think...

    Wheelspin at last, yippee

Rascal Could it be colder slippier roads? When my pilot sports are cold wheelspin is almost unavoidable but more difficult when they warm up after a couple of miles. My GTS is in hibernation at the moment so I can't vouch for it but my daily car tells me that the roads in the UK are really...

New viper may not become a classic, not enough swoopy curves

Craig, thanks for the reaction, your absolutely right that shape and design alone do not a classic make. A car will become a classic through its cultural perception, its publicity during its lifetime, the political feel at the time etc. But that crack taking philosopher did soothsay some truth...

New viper may not become a classic, not enough swoopy curves

I read somewhere that as a general rule, only cars which have curvaceous curves become classics. I'm not sure that I'd agree entirely, but when a classic car comes to mind its usually pretty swoopy and doesn't have too many sharp edges and creases as these really start to date a shape, ie the...
