    Lightened Flywheel – Would you do it again?

    I'm about to do it, so I hope the results are as good as expected, flywheel and clutch on their way from states at the moment so I'll post when its done probably in a couple of months. I dont plan on balancing them, fingers crossed.

    I think the expansion tank set up is different, try a search, I think its been covered several times, I used Bluecol protek which has trigard corrosion protection at a 50:50 ratio. It also has I think a 5 year lifespan. May not be available in the states.

    If you remove the std cats the sound with straight pipes will be painfully loud as the std cats do a major part of the silencing

    Sorry to hear about the damage Ulysses, but glad the insurance will pay out. In August I met a guy at Dan Cragins who is his recommended frame and body fixer, sounded like he had all the answers, might be worth checking out. Good luck.

    Don't think there would be that much weight loss with aluminium frame. Check out top line bicycle frames. The best weigh in at the 3 to 4 lbs range no matter whether they are made of steel,aluminium or titanium. Each metal has its relative merits but to be able to have a useful service life each...

    HIGH FLOW MUFFLERS VS CAT BACK

    The OE in sill mufflers reduce to 1 3/4" inside. Thats just awful and must be a major bottleneck in the gas flow, by contrast the standard cats "appear" relatively ok and do a large measure of the silencing.

    Thanks, its good to know they are carefully built and designed, they are certainly the best fitting headers I've fitted to anything. Are there any formulae used to work out the size and positioning of the squeezers/pickles?

    When I bought mine I wondered what the "orange squeezer" like cones at the collectors are for. I guess they speed up flow or inhibit flow reversion. Anyone got a technical explanation of how and why they are there. Are they unique to Belanger?
