    EBC Greenstuff

Fitted greens front and rear and I don't get any squeal. But I did chamfer all round the edge of the friction material(just a little). I also used copper grease at any point where the backing contacts the caliper. I sell greens through my shop for lots of different cars and recommend the above...

    Need help with clutch problem!!!

Sounds like a clutch hydraulic problem. Check the fluid level, there may be a leak and low level has permitted air to enter. If this is case you will need new seals but just keep it topped up in the meantime

    Borla Exhaust

    Mine was a perfect fit.

    Airbox rain-baffle cutout.

I've wondered if I could make up a plate which had a hinged rain baffle held in the down position by manifold vacuum and able to spring up out of the way at full throttle and minimal vacuum. An old diaphragm unit from a carb might do the trick. Could be a winter project Any input or thoughts ?

Has anyone had those black tabs break off?

ab, Mine were completely seized at the top of the panel where the threaded end protrudes into the wheelwell. I think the metal threaded nut corrodes because its exposed to the water and road junk. I soaked mine in WD40 for a few days and then using a heat gun gently warmed them while loosening...

    Valve Ticking at Startup

If mine sits for a week or two it may tap for a second or so on starting the motor. I assume this is normal leakage from the hydraulic lifters and does not seem to be a cause for concern.

Cigar lighter not working. Blown fuse ?

I had the centre console out and while I was messing with the gearchange I must have earthed the +ve wire, there was a spark and now no power at the lighter ( I use it for my tyre inflater - slow puncture ). I've checked the underhood fuse and its ok. Anyone know if theres another fuse somewhere ?

I want my gas cap to shine.........

When I bought my 99 in May this year I got a new cap under warranty ( the original was badly corroded under the clearcoat ). However the new one arrived with the clearcoat scratched, so I removed the plastic pin and was then able to strip the clearcoat from the lid with paintstripper and polish...

    Borla Headers ????

Steve, I fitted the complete system myself and no I didn't need any special tools. The belanger headers fitted perfectly although the engine mounts needed moved a little to adjust the motor. The most awkward bit was rerouting the LH sensor wire from behind the air con comp and the power...

    B&M Ripper Shifter Shattered!

I'm well pleased with Dan Cragin's shifter but its not a lot shorter than standard, Does feel light and accurate though.

    Free Smooth Tubes . . .

I asked Dan Cragin about the vacuum collapse, he reckoned that it doesn't until the motor reaches the 540 hp and above level

    Borla Headers ????

Steve, Mike Pavloff has these on his car so you could have a look, I fitted belangers to mine and they were straightforward to fit and well made, Ron (SoCal) has belanger on his. I think belangers are better and run cooler. I used borla system, it fitted perfectly.

Do i need to lose the cat if i install the corsa exhaust?? nt

Phil, Removing the cats or replacing with hi-flo cats will increase the noise level quite a bit and also lead to popping and blubbing on over-run, but it makes the sills run a lot cooler. I went with the hi-flo cats to avoid the anti social exhaust smell but ended up with the anti social sound...

    '97 GTS v '01 911 Turbo..and the winner is....

Re: \'97 GTS v \'01 911 Turbo..and the winner is.... Viper has a higher drool factor than the Porsche and doesn't get the same rich b*****d comments. Most people seem to admire the viper in the same way they will admire a big motorcycle. Maybe Viper is just more friendly

Skunk hits the road reborn as Skunkenstein

Finally finished fitting my modifications , the belangers, the hi-flo cats, the borla, the smooth tubes and the quick shift and I've had the first few brief drives. Its a really wicked, slightly anti-social hard sound with an excellent cammy lumpy tickover. The power is definitely stronger...

    Best Brake Fluid

Use a Dot 5.1 Its a good street brake fluid with a boil point close to racing fluid but less affinity to absorb moisture
  22. J

    Brake question???

Ron You may need to give those pads as much as a 100 miles of gentle braking to match themselves to the grooves which ( unless they are new ) are bound to be on your discs. Gradually build up your braking and they will bed in nicely. Reds have a similar C of F to std pads.

I had an "H" pipe fabercated..what is the H pipe good for?

Re: I had an \"H\" pipe fabercated..what is the H pipe good for? Having just fitted a new system from the heads down, I examined the standard system as I removed it and listened to the motor at varios stages of removal. The rear silencers make little difference. The in sill silencers also only...
