I understand where you are coming from, to an extent. To me the SRT base price is right in line with what it should be. The GTS optioned out however is absurd. That's new ACR territory. Have no fear, IMHO, once the excitement and dust settles loaded GTSs will be selling for invoice. A $135k...
This.
And this. I will however be sorely disappointed if SRT does not release some sort of radical widebody ACR. ONLY because we've seen how much potential the body style has. GTS to GTS-R is greater than the sum of it's parts. Put $30k in parts (arbitrary) and get $300k in looks and performance.
Awesome! Thankfully they didn't jump on the childish "game-changing" "concave" "epic" "supercar" bandwagon. I'm gonna blow a fuse if I hear "game changer" or "supercar" again. :D
Thanks for the information!
So can you confirm if what Ralph said is true...that the interior is roomier than all of the previous generations?
I'm very disappointed to learn the vert will have the same rear as the coupe.. It sounds like another cost cutting cop out by SRT. It just leaves me...
I don't imagine those will sell well (fully optioned GTS). At that price I'd fork over the extra cash for a more exotic looking car, even if it is a lower performer. I don't even want to know how much the ACR will cost. Following SRT's new track record, my guess is it won't be widebody and it...
Good pics. Is there anyway to "de-instagram" the photos? This trend of adding effects to photos is nauseating. I just want to see them as is. Gracias!
If they haven't been touched up please pardon my ignorance.
By definition the Viper is an exotic, an entry level exotic. It's (was) a bargain alternative to the non-supercar Ferraris and Lamborghinis, etc. Now a supercar? No fricken way. Sheeple have been throwing that term around lately, maybe because they can't afford a real one. "Supercars" nowadays...
Don't forget the ACR was an off the shelf car with no forced induction, making it MUCH harder to cheat. The ZR1 and GT2 and GTR can all easily be tweaked to give them an advantage.
Re: Wind the clock forward 5 years, think there will be more used Gen 5 Vipers availa
I think there may be more accidents because of the protections. I know far too many people who automatically assume TC and ESC mean they can drive however they want. The Viper is still a torque monster, and...
Lemke needs to make a kit for the rear to model after the GTS-R, give it an extra 2" per side. Leave the front as is. Then it will be proportioned correctly.
That's because they widened the front a couple of inches and kept the back relatively the same. It looks poorly proportioned (because it is). If you remember the mules they always had wider front fenders with camo but the rear remained untouched. It worried me when I first saw them. Maybe SRT...
I'm quite disappointed with the GTS pricing. I hope it works out for SRT, but I don't think it will. Once the newness fades I predict there will be a lot of heavily discounted GTSs on dealer lots, especially at 2000 per year. The only way I don't forsee this is if the majority of dealer orders...
LOL. I know you are being a smart ass.
For the guy you quoted, he clearly doesn't understand the market. He's every manufacturers dream. Taking price increases with a smile. The new Jeep SRT8 in 2014 will be worth about $60k optioned out, and that's with the 8 speed and new head unit. The...
$99k base for SRT Viper. $110k base for GTS. $120k optioned out GTS + TTL. Max $125k. The Viper will not do well for long IMHO if they go above these numbers.
Keep in mind there has to be room for the ACR. $150k GTS-R style ACR will sell. A $150k ACR with only aero and no other body...
You're probably right that they won't, but they definitely can. Chevy managed to do it with the Z06 (albeit higher volume) and again with the ZR1. Both are wider than the base C6 and both look light years ahead of the C6. The base C6 looks so boring to me I'd rather have a mustang GT.
That is...
I think a reasonable compromise is to meet somewhere half way. The front of the ACR doesn't need to be as wide as the GTS-R, put in in between that and the regular Gen V. The rear should be as wide, but if not, also meet in the middle. Add 1 1/2" to each side.
