Makes sense. The $137k number is absurd. Not even close to that amount of options worth over a $95-100k base price. I think $120k max. Probably no more than $115k.
Even if they break even it's worth it. SRT is it's own brand now. What better way to promote it than a wicked looking exotic that has super car looks and proportions. The GTS helps but it's not a game changer.
I respectfully disagree. If they do it half ass and only go and inch or two wider (which is still better than nothing) I agree. But if they do the full width rear the same as the GTS-R, identical fenders, only slightly different rear bumper, and a front very similar in width to the GTS-R with...
^ I don't know about the others but the ride height has nothing to do with my love/want for the street GTS-R. Raise it up 3" for all I care. Modify the rear bumper to be a little higher. It's the bold shoulders and hips that makes this car so menacing, not it being slammed.
Here's a hottie for you! ;)
I took this about a year and a half ago...traditional Chinese hat, mustache, and gold tooth have been added to protect my identity
Now that's the wow factor! I'd love to see this GTS next to the actual GTS. One is cute (my wife's words about the new GTS) and the other is nasty looking...I'd prefer to be in the nasty looking
Re: Someone please forward this message to Ralph Giles and the rest of the SRT Team-A
Looks like I'm back. Just to shed more light on the "the GTS is as wide as legally possible" lies told by SRT, look here:
AMG SLS Black Series in development. The stock SLS is 76.3" wide. This looks to be...
Re: Someone please forward this message to Ralph Giles and the rest of the SRT Team-A
Agreed. And to answer the original question...
Probably more than the people who use their supercars the way the were intended. How many private F50s, Enzos, MC12s, Zondas, Koenigseggs, CLK GTRs, 911 GT1s...
Re: Someone please forward this message to Ralph Giles and the rest of the SRT Team-A
BAM. Exactly. The point here is the light years of separation between the GTS and GTS-R. The GTS is a cute car no doubt, but the GTS-R is menacing. Just a slightly wider body and the cars goes from nice to...
A significant improvement over the outgoing model. 3.7 is bottom of the pack.
I think 3.1 is the number to shoot for albeit very difficult with RWD. Nothing less than 3.3
Pardon my ignorance on the subject....I was under the impression that the paddle shifters in Ferrari's Enzo/FXX were the same as racing sequential trannys. What's the difference?
This.
I didn't mean the exact same transmission. I meant one sourced from Ferrari and possibly modified to handle the extra torque. In general I hate flappy paddle shifters but listening to that motor run through the gears has me thinking crazy talk.
God I hope so! All kidding aside it's been admitted by numerous manufacturers that they get ideas from forums and the internet. They have dedicated departments gauging public opinion....now SRT I don't know. They produced the Razor wheels which are widely recognized as the least favorite, even...
$140k my ass. SRT will go broke if they sell the GTS for $140k. ACR/GTS-R, no problem.
The GTS will be $120k fully optioned. I know this for fact. A homeless man told me. Don't believe me?
How's that for proof!
This. Don't alienate the 50% who prefer the other rear. Stick to the Viper formula as much as possible. The original Viper was the RT/10. The GTS came later. Doing the same rear as the GTS would be a great disservice to the Viper heritage. Offer a targa top with a coupe rear for the...
One, this isn't a "supercar". It's an exotic kit car :D
Now that we got that out of the way, there are a host of reasons, only a few of which I will list:
1. Most important, regulations. A car manufacturer has to comply with zillions that cost millions. A low level kit car company gets around...
Two different animals. This is a mid engined car that probably sits 8" lower than a Gen V. Wouldn't work. You can't make a car like these with the necessary bespoke components and make it anywhere near affordable.
Because today it would be around a $600k selling price and the risk is too great. The sad thing is, this was a working prototype with full blown production plans ready to go. This wasn't just a concept car. Sticker was going to be $400k at the time. Unfortunately they were worried people...
