All this does is confirm there is hope for the Viper! If the magazines hate it, that's a great thing. I'm still disappointed (I think???) in the alleged performance numbers, but it's good to know that it's hated. It is a Viper after all. No sarcasm.
Now we just need a widebody ACR. It...
No biggie. The Vette is a mass produced sports car that has been out over 50 years. They were around when they're weren't a lot of options. Generation after generation has owned them. Of course it's gonna outsell the Viper. To expect anything else is ridiculous.
Agreed but no point in beating a dead horse. The friends I have that like LEDs are also the friends that follow every other fad...silver wheels...then deep dish wheels polished wheels...then pin striped and/or black wheels....then concave wheels.....Same goes for fashion, etc. Whatever is...
While I still have no interest in owning a vette, in pictures the C7 has a lot more of a road presence. I wouldn't be surprised if it were as wide as the GTS. No goofy ride height either. Then again, I haven't seen the GTS in person and pictures rarely do the Viper justice. Time will tell.
I can say this, a fully built naturally aspirated Viper motor is a force to be reckoned....so they sound crappy stock. Doesn't matter, it won't remain stock for long.
Don't forget the aftermarket. The massive and simple Viper engine is VERY mod friendly. You will alienate a huge group of Viper buyers by making the engine less mod friendly. There is no replacement for displacement. You can beat the hell out of a Viper motor because it's a beast. Keep it a...
This. Bob Lutz, father of the Viper, stated that the Z06 was created because of the Viper. It seems like Chrysler cut his fun budget so he hopped to GM where they were more than happy to fund his skunkwork projects. Thus the all-too-capable C6 Z06 and ZR1. The Viper was what pushed GM to raise...
This. The sentiment here reminds much of that in society with our liberties. Over time we accept more and more being taken, with often weak justification. We don't need another "me-too". Let the Viper be an outlier, a menacing and domineering outlier.
THIS. The 8 speed or any true automatic is about the worst idea I've ever heard for the Viper. Child seats make more sense. They ONLY option is a semi-automatic manual. Paddle shifters mandatory to shift. Not auto mode. No manual clutch. That, I would be willing to consider....Faster shift...
The "trolls" they weed out are people who go there for the sole purpose of stirring up stuff. The so-called "trolls" here, myself included, are fanatical Viper lovers who are very critical. It's called a different opinion and a different way of expressing it.
Not sure what to think. Anyhow, it's promising to hear that the actual production cars may be greatly improved.
The magholes never liked the Viper. That's why I loved the Viper. I go against the grain, I hate trends, I am the anti-sheep. Bad press is good press as long as the performance is...
Good responses by many of you. All kidding aside there are very few true "trolls" on this board. It's a mudslinging term used by the uber optimist to discredit opposing viewpoints. You people still miss the point, it goes right over your head. The extreme reactions are a GREAT thing. It...
Before SRT was formed as a stand alone company I recommended splitting Viper off into its own brand. A high performance budget Ferrari/Porsche fighting brand. It looks like the top brass at Chrysler read my post and took MY idea. I feel so special.
So long as it isn't a low level Viper I don't see the big deal. There is plenty of room for a GT500/ZL1 fighting stand alone SRT car. The Challenger isn't a real competitor to the top level Mustang or Camaro. Too slow and bulky.
Now if it looks anything like the Viper and is named Viper the...
I'd never drive a vette, they're great cars, but they do nothing for me. I'm not surprised by the poll at all. It doesn't make me any happier though given the cars are so close in performance. Plus it's fun to troll a thread and make a lot of hoopla on the internet. Many of you may not...
There seems to be some common confusion here. The Viper was a pariah outcast from the flock. The Corvette never was. It was just another good sports car. Quit thinking of them as equals. The Corvette is an American mass produced superb sports car, the Viper is a low volume American exotic. The...
I remember the day when the Viper waxed all of Ferrari's lineup other than their supercars (F50, Enzo). The 458 is already too close for comfort. The F12 has more power and will more than likely eat the Viper's lunch, without rendering payment.
458 and GT3 owners were never the fastest. They don't have to be. Despite public denial by owners, performance is low on the list for reasons to buy these cars. People buy them for the craftsmanship and heritage. The new Viper is an animal torn between 2 masters. SRT spent money trying to make...
It's ok everyone. 2 press conferences already addressed our concerns.
#1 "The SRT Viper has moAr leather and ride control. It also costs moArz. It's betterz."
Sincerely, Ralphie G. SRT.
#2 "SRT is being rebranded to better reflect our mission directive. We are now Luxury and Cruising...
