    Breaking In Question

I agree that every 6 months is a bit much especially if you live in a part of the country where it snows for half of the year. I've been using Mobil Extended Performance in the appropriate weight on all of my other cars and it has been fine. It's "guaranteed" to last 15K miles / 12 months so I...

    Check your "angel eye" LEDs

That sucks. I've seen a lot of Audis with their LED accent lights malfunctioning, one is on and the other is off. You can probably turn them off by digging through the driver menu using the controls on your steering wheel, and you can probably get that fixed under warranty.

SRT Viper Vs. Corvette C7 - Seeing both in under 24 hours...

Chrysler's stock is currently north of $60 / share which suggests they're making cars that people are actually buying. US Gov't sold off it's last stake in Chrysler in 2011. Feds "lent" the company $12.5 billion and recovered $11.2 billion, which posts a loss of $1.3 billion to the US taxpayers...

SRT Viper Vs. Corvette C7 - Seeing both in under 24 hours...

The C7 is ugly, plain and simple. It's no work of art and I'm sure you'll be seeing almost as many of these on the roads as you see hyundais and camrys. The $25K FR-S looks nicer than the C7. I liked the C5 and the C6 was OK except for the front end...but the C7 looks like they're copying the...

250 miles in on my Viper - a few things I don't like...

Can you please quote a post I made that was "personal attack". Hey it's not even 7am and you found the time to write a long-winded response. I can't tell you why "most" people joined this forum but a lot of people enjoy participating in text-based discussions about their interests when we're...

250 miles in on my Viper - a few things I don't like...

The forum is divided into sections for a reason. If you come to a Gen 5 forum to "remind" us new owners how "great" your older cars were "back in the day" you are essentially trolling. You claimed that "viper owners and their rides were being bashed" in this thread. Totally false. All I...

250 miles in on my Viper - a few things I don't like...

This is my forum - the Gen 5 forum. If we're going to discriminate and decide who belongs here and who doesn't, then anyone that doesnt' own a Gen 5 or doesn't appreciate one should head over to the "other" forums. Drone isn't an issue in a GTS and probably overstated by mag editors looking...

Ferrari Boss Left “Speechless” After Seeing The New SRT Viper

I've seen two red ferarris on the road (on separate occasions) while in my viper so far, even saw a ZR1 vette but have yet to see another viper of current or any generation. The last time I saw a viper on the road must have been over 10 years ago and it was a dealer's demo ride.

    Breaking In Question

I always try to get the engine up to the redline under load at least a few times each time I drive it, and then drive it more conservatively for a bit and repeat this process. To get good "break in" you really just need to put the car through its entire operating temperature range as best you...

250 miles in on my Viper - a few things I don't like...

Stating that I personally don't consider a previous gen viper to be worth buying is not talking down to anyone. Jumping into a thread and accusing someone of talking down to you because you didn't read the other posts is basically what you did. For ME, a car that is in the Viper's price range...

250 miles in on my Viper - a few things I don't like...

If I'm digging a hole it's only so I can come down to your level. You may not be old by age but you're old as in outdated, obsolete. I'm old by age, but youthful in the sense that I'm not stuck in a rut of constantly looking back at the good ole days. You need to take some of your own advice...

SRT Viper vs SLS AMG Black Series

You're coming across as an elitist troll who thinks he alone is authorized to declare who is a "viper type" and who is not. You know who is a viper type? The guy or woman who can afford to plop down $100K+ for a car. Even if it's only 1% different, it's 1% better but we both know it's more than...

250 miles in on my Viper - a few things I don't like...

I appreciate that you're not just saying this but actually displaying a lack of class. How about I give you a pass since you are old? You really need to figure out that the car you choose to buy does not define you, and if it does, you are pathetic. The Viper is but one of many cars that I...

250 miles in on my Viper - a few things I don't like...

Oh, I'd consider an older viper at about 1/2 the price they were trying to sell them for. They were not $100K cars by any stretch of the imagination, which is why only an imaginative few bought them. Talking about a Gen 5 when you obviously don't own one and probably haven't even seen on in...

250 miles in on my Viper - a few things I don't like...

Spoken like a guy who isn't allowed within 500 yds of a school zone. :leave: I think you're stretching this out too far. This thread has morphed from my own personal gripes about the Gen 5 to history lesson. Having a Gen 5 is everything if you are: a) Posting in the forums...

SRT Viper vs SLS AMG Black Series

Good points, and seeing this video doesn't make me wish I splurged for an SLS or regret getting my GTS. Yes, the Viper "lost" this "challenge" - not denying that, but I think that the people here are not picking up on the fact that if you went with the base SRT Viper you'd save $200K over...

SRT Viper vs SLS AMG Black Series

They bumped the redline from ~6500 to 8000 on that V8 which, along with a cam profile for higher engine speed, shifted its peak power up and reduced its peak torque. It's a good setup for racing since HP is more useful then torque once you're already moving...but it's probably not a lot of fun...

250 miles in on my Viper - a few things I don't like...

I'll likely show up at some events, though I haven't heard anything from the club president about any "official" viper events. Anyway there's tons of shows going on like every weekend. LOL I ain't no liberal that's for sure. I banned all food and drink from my viper but the cupholders make a...

SRT Viper vs SLS AMG Black Series

Not sure why MT lets a reviewer who can't handle a manual do the review. These mag editors are lacking objectivity but at the same time they're telling it like it is: The viper IS raw and "scary" to drive...they present this as a bad thing but it is intentional. The viper is supposed to have...

Love the results I got with Clay Bar + Optimum Poli-Seal

Bought mine on amazon. Although my car is red, the black panels on my car came out great. What I really like about poli-seal is that it does not leave any white residue behind like most other polishes and all waxes do, so when you use it on black you don't have to worry about the gaps having...

Love the results I got with Clay Bar + Optimum Poli-Seal

I bought a clay bar kit which consisted of clay and detail spray, some optimum no-rinse wash and a small bottle of poli-seal. Did a 4-step job: wash-clay-wash-poli job using microfiber cloths (no electric buffer) and the results are superb. Optimum's no-rinse car wash works surprisingly well...

1st Gen 5 on aftermarket rims?

Yeah, I'm not feeling these. They look like something you'd get at pep-boys where the 3rd one is free. I really love the sidewider II in hyperblack. Some of the nicest wheels I've seen on any car, stock or aftermarket, period...so they'll be hard to improve upon.

250 miles in on my Viper - a few things I don't like...

LOL you're all big kids here so don't cry if I don't sugar-coat what I say...and I've had plenty of invective flung my way by some of the other members. I will say that this is really the most up-tight car forum I've ever participated in. The GM guys are far more laid back in general. Hell, even...

Sat in my first Stryker Gen V

Damn that's rough...but it makes me feel like I got a good deal on mine. The structural parts are all CF. They probably bonded the outer shell to a material that would allow for a smoother finish and better paint adhesion. Plan to replace mine with the CF versions once they're available...
