    Stripping paint from sidesill

Thanks Doc, I am almost completely done with the outside of the sills. I have been using one of those discs on the inside and it seems to be working well. That is also a good tip about the shield. It looks like it takes up quite a bit of space. I will also have the holes filled in then also...

    Sill Corrosion Repair

I was just going to post the same pictures as I have been stiping the pain on my sills (96 RT). It is amazing how much work it is to get all that old paint off -- even with the chemical stripper. I was happy to find only one area where the corrosion was all the way through.

    Stripping paint from sidesill

ROCKET62, I will post the name of the stuff I used and some pictures. The stuff is green, toxic, stinks something horrible (use outside) but gets most of the paint off quick. Right now I haven't decided where to go for the paint and minor repairs. My dad has a guy that works on his 69 Jag...

    Stripping paint from sidesill

Thanks for the tip Dan. I am almost done with the first sill--man that stripper stuff is potent. There are just a couple little holes so I am surprised to see it isn't worse. Do most people re rivit the insulation or is there really no need for the rivits? I think I recall that on the Gen 2s...

    Stripping paint from sidesill

I am looking to repaint my side sills and thought that I would strip the paint before I brought it to my body shop. Can I use a chemical stripper and the aluminum--the one I have says it is safe for aluminum ? I thought I read that you want to avoid chemical strippers for the body panels...

    Why wouldn't.....

Re: Why wouldn\'t..... That seems kind of low to me (I would think it would go for a bit more linke in the low 40s). But it is winter and maybe the seller is motivated. I would get the car checked out but that sounds like it COULD be a good deal providing that everything checks out.

Need a Front Facia Repaint in New Jersey!

Phil, Did you have your sill painted also and if so is he the person that did that also? If so could you PM a rough ballpark of what you were looking at for that because I am planning on doing that soon. Thanks

How low should I go? Lowering my seats

I am 6 3' and I put the one inch lowering kit in. It is better but at times I wish I went with the 2 inch kit but it is nice if you need to move the seat up to take the sports bar/hard top off/on.

Sourcing Obsolete Parts For Gen I and Gen II Vipers

Isn't there a part for the Gen 2 that Chuck said breaks loose internally when people go to disconnect the battery. It is part of a very expensive wiring harness that I thought he said was in short supply.

Sourcing Obsolete Parts For Gen I and Gen II Vipers

How about the side sill insulation...I think I have read that it is very hard to get and they tend to get ruined quickly.

Anyone have a clear bra or invisibra on their car?

PlumCrazy has one that looks great. I think the trick is finding someone that knows how to install it right.

    Taking off...

The driving school advice is the best. However, if I were you I would also try to find another Viper driver to go for a ride with just to get an idea of the shift points. You could drive with the other person, taking note of what gear they are in, what it feels like when they shift, ect...

VCA MEMBERS PLEASE READ - WINDOW STICKERS

This is a wonderful idea. It would probably be helpful to know if other clubs offer similar service. I know that Pontiac fans have the POCI historical society which provides lots of valuable information on a car based on the VIN. I would love to see this happens?

I was thinking the opposite--I am not sure I could fit in that car. Looks better than I thought they would though.

    96 dash fit 93 dash?

On my 96 the dash is black. To get it to really match you will probably want to consider replacing the knee bolsters (which are black on the 96 RT - different from the GTS). On the 96 RT's the door panels, center console and knee bolsters are all black.

    Backfire on a downshift

Isn't a popping noise normal under backpressure? I would also think that it would be different that a backfire. My car pops some (totally stock) when I downshift around town but I was under the impresion that it was normal. How do you tell if an injector is bad?

    Battery question

Even if the battery dies you can always pop the hood and hook a jumper/charger up. I would think that car would be just fine though.

    Caution on Ebay Bumblebee

My buddy bought a lemon law Viper (96 RT Black/Silver) and it has been great for him. I wonder if the hit you take on a lemon law car is equol to a salvage title.
