Lift Challenge Take on all comers!

I don't know nothin from nothin about lift prices. However, I do know Bend-Pak's Sales Manager flew up from Southern California to a attend a Norcal VCA meeting. I sat next to him during dinner, and he listened very carefully to the owners wishes and concerns. I can ensure you Bend-Pak is...

An Alternative to 4 Post Cable Lifts

My only beef with cantilever/twin post/single post is the "feet" seem like they would get into the way of the doors on the car below. Having easy access to the car below is a huge advantage.

    Porsche Air Deflectors

Dean, Thanks for clarifying that the position of the bracket matters as well (above or below the control arm ). I run the bracket below the control arm, with the deflector "bosses" on top of the bracket. Mine scraped as well, so I just carved a bit of the deflector away.

    Porsche Air Deflectors

How do you mount your Porsche air deflectors? I have been mounting mine using the IPS (Dilusi) brackets like in the illustrated upgrades, however, I have been running the deflectors upside down of that shown in the illustrated upgrade.

    Garage Organization suggestions wanted

That 12x14 door seems a bit narrow to comfortably get 2 cars through side by side. Perhaps 2 post of single post lifts could be laid out to work (really depends on exactly where the door is along the wall.) As for the showcase effect, I think that has more to do with all the memorabilia than...

    Lug Nuts 02 rims?

The factory 02 wheels are held on with 1/2"-20 thread, acorn bulge lug nuts, 1.4" long with a 60 degree taper seat. Depending on where you shop, you'll find them in the factory size 13/16"/19mm or 3/4" (buy whichever is compatible with your on-board lug wrench). Gorilla Automotive Products...

Advice for Purchase of Viper with Primary Utilization on Road Course

To get a good idea on running costs, look into rental prices. Racers have a tendency towards absent mindedness when it comes to actual running costs. The rental price will be similar to the do-it-yourself price plus travel expenses. If you do end up shopping for a "race" car. Remember...

    Don't trust Mercury Insurance

Re: Don\'t trust Mercury Insurance Update: With the help of the California Insurance Commission, I was finally able to get a full refund on my Mercury Insurance scam/policy. It took 6 months, but it sure feels good.

Re: The GERMANS don\'t care !!! "Just to set the record straight. I'm not flaming on Germans in particular -- it's my ancestry." You just chose to indict all Germans in the title of your post. "The point I'm trying to make is -- You cannot expect business men from another culture that feels...

Tell me why you want large 4-piston Brembo/StopTech/SRT *REAR* calipers?

Re: Lots of Info Here Matt, Glad you chimed in. I fully agree that it's all about heat capacity, which leads me to question the wisdom of big rear brakes. The front brakes do nearly 10 times more work than the rears on a street car (on a car with sticky tires it would be even more). Given...

    Rollover Facts

FF hit it on the nose. These statistics aren't about technology, they're about demographics. A ridiculously high portion of fatal wrecks are 16-22 year olds (they're something like 10% of all drivers, 60% of all fatal accidents). Clarks rating solution, while I like it, won't help these kids...

    Rollover Facts

cstegall, You're making this more black and white than it is. Back to basics can be less safe without being reckless. For example; straying off trail can get you lost in the woods. Ever year, folks get so lost they end up dead. However, cross country travel can be quite rewarding if you...

    Pre-Track Fluid frecomendations??

I also recall Tom saying some not so flattering things about the way Amsoil represents their test data. Not to say the stuff is no good, just that the supposed benefits are a bit overstated.

Picture of the Paolo Castellano Twin Turbo setup!

Plug the holes on the left and right. At speed, air entering through the main grill opening will flow out of those holes instead of through the intercoolers. The slotted openings on the chin may also be a bit too far off the nose, although a splitter could help feed air to those.

Should the Viper ever have Traction control and/ or any other Gadgets?

A huge part of my buying decision was the Viper's minimalism. My Viper is not my primary driver, so I'm OK with it being less safe than a Volvo (Hey, it's safer than a motorcycle!). Nor did I buy the Viper solely to go fast (flame suit on!), so I don't buy the performance at all costs...

Tell me why you want large 4-piston Brembo/StopTech/SRT *REAR* calipers?

Tom, I know where you're going here and, while you are 100% correct, you're going to get flamed when you tell folks monster rear brakes are nothing but an expensive way to add a bunch of extra iron to accelerate and decelerate. Besides, pinner little brakes just look dorky.

    Coupe HP Solution?

I'm not suggesting a blower in the trunk is the best solution, rather it is a realistic solution, leading to a 600HP "factory" motor, compatible with SRT's budget (a budget incompatible with many of the "better" alternatives). Blowers may not be the height of fashion in modern road racing, but...

    Tire Traction

Siping is the process of making little slices into the tread blocks. It's very common on winter tires, and, ironically, on rock-crawlers. The slices result in little edges which can provide some grip on their own and are especially good when it's wet and slippery (look at the bottom of a pair...
