    2014 Corvette

Latest Car and Driver quote from chief engineer Tadge Juechter: "We also have AFM [active fuel management, or cylinder deactivation] even with the manual, which no one else is doing." "You can be far more aggressive on cylinder deactivation when you've got a torque converter..."

Video: Tesla Model S Electric Car vs Dodge Viper

Yep, Hydrogen molecules are small and sneaky...they can fit through spaces where other gases cannot. Not saying it can't be done, but when your average driver has a hard time changing the oil in their car on a regular basis, asking them to maintain a high pressure hydrogen tank is a recipe for...

    Factory supercharged V-10 in development?

If Chrysler follows through with a factory supercharger, it will likely be offered (if not standard) on all Vipers. I think the ACR is too small of a business case. I'm pretty sure they were testing something in the 750+ hp range in the last couple of years.

    Delivery Delays

Don't think the ZR1 will show up for another year or two. The vert and Z07 will debut first, I think.

I need to cancel my order... ideas?

Maybe put up a classified here to see if someone is interested in picking up your spot with the deposit... Too bad Canadians don't get a warranty when they bring a Chrysler over from the U.S. I've been mulling over a Gen V SRT with the track pack...the loss of warranty on a brand new car is too...

Anyone install the new Mygig head unit in a gen 3?

Subbed. Keenly interested but might be breaking the bank on this one. Would love to be able to end user install since I am clear across the continent but I also understand the extreme nature of the install.

    Hmmmm, words from Ralph

Oddly enough, you're the only one that is talking smack and you label everyone else who disagrees with your poorly thought out diatribes.

    Hmmmm, words from Ralph

Dude, the only one who's been upset is you...you seem to think that I don't understand your idea...I fully get it, I just reject it. You seem to take that quite personally. I don't want to say it, but this thesis of yours is simplistic and not well thought out. That's as far as I get...

    Latest from Edmunds. Dyno test.

This lines up with what I've heard about the Michelin-Chrysler relationship. Michelin had a *very* close working relationship with Chrysler up until the bail out. Not sure who made the call or whether the call was made from outside Chrysler management, but Michelin was made to line up along with...

    Hmmmm, words from Ralph

Way to alienate everyone by insulting them. Seriously, the Viper and Vette are top dog competitors for comparatively small money, yet you trash the Viper engine, the owners and the design thought behind it. With friends like this, does the Viper need enemies? Everyone else seems to understand...

    Hmmmm, words from Ralph

I'd rather have a 10.0-12L V10 OHV that has direct injection and cylinder deactivation for fuel economy and emissions. And zero throttle lag (hope it's been fixed on the Gen V).

    Gen IV Direct Port Nitrous?

One of the SRT guys recommended nitrous to me after I complained that there were so few tuning options outside of looney tunes setups (locked PCM b!tchfest, heh)... take that for whatever it's worth. Anyone with a Gen IV have any feedback? I'm curious now.

08 ACR Viper still King of *normal* production cars for Lightning Lap in Car & Driver

Re: 08 ACR Viper still King of *normal* production cars for Lightning Lap in Car & Dr Yeah, but when the Ferrari rep says it is OK for C&D to crash the car in pursuing a 2:49 lap, you know something's a bit stacked. Upon reading this I don't think Ferrari just hands over the keys to a press...

    Radar detectors

When they are flogging product they cannot be unbiased, especially since the Valentine is only sold direct. I liked this website but there's been no updates for a while: http://guysoflidar.com As much as I like my V1 (saved me countless times), they have sat on their butt for a loooooooong...

    Latest from Edmunds. Dyno test.

The recertification part is a pain, one can see that even the 2009 changes to the PCM e-gas in the Viper were NOT back ported by Dodge to reduce throttle lag in the 2008s because it would require recertification.

    Automatic Viper?

I agree the manual is way more satisfying to drive, but at what point does efficiency outweigh the traditional formats?

    Hmmmm, words from Ralph

No thanks to dohc. Packaging is too big and heavy compared to ohv designs. There's a reason why ohv has survived. Larger displacement yet smaller and lighter works well. Add modern features like direct injection and cylinder deactivation and the traditional ohv design is more than competitive...

    Hmmmm, words from Ralph

Hope Ralph is taking the C7 seriously. Gossip among the gears is that the new ZR1, which won't be here for a few years yet, will have a different chassis entirely from the standard C7...no details but that it should put everyone on notice, including the top end F cars and ACR. I hope the ACR is...

    Automatic Viper?

Given the fact that automatics have more gears than manuals now, can shift faster and cylinder deactivation is currently incompatible with manual gearboxes; I'd say pure manual boxes are on the outs. :P
