I've got an 01 GTS with Roe SC and VEC3. Belanger headers are ordered with bungs for WB O2 sensors. What else do I need to get started tuning?
Here is my list:
WB O2 sensor(s)
WB controller
laptop
Roe VEC Software?
Suggestions on "best" WB setup?
Thanks,
Pat
Re: What mod did you LUST after...and when you finally got it....well...it just SUCKE
I too got the R&D emblems. You have to be careful to remove all wax etc from the surface before applying. I used 3M™ General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner.
Even with a thorough cleaning, I still had some...
You can buy a race jack from Harbor Freight for around $79. Get some good jack stands and you're ready to go. Never get under the car with only the jack supporting it.
Tom,
Thanks for the links. But, It's not clear to me that the images shown model the Viper case. For instance, one could easily make the case that the duct is in the frontal area vs. on the hood looking at the image. The very curved Viper front end makes it ambiguous where the front area...
Do you have any data to support this? Even if you have 70mm throttle bodies, I only get about 12 sq. inches of area into the engine. I measured the opening of my NACA duct on my 01 GTS, and it has an area of over 16 sq. inches. So, unless the NACA duct effectively cuts down on effective...
Since you are drawing all of your air through the NACA duct, cold air should not be an issue. Since you are bone stock, the NACA duct is more than sufficient to deliver enough air. There are lots of claims about HP increase with smooth tubes and high flow filters, but any increase is so small...
I've only changed my thermostat (172) as part of my Roe install. The car runs about 10 degrees cooler in city driving as measured by the stock gauge. I also changed to the Roe PCM, and I don't know if it is programmed to run the fans at a lower temp. Anyone know?
I'd try asking in the Gen3 forum. I would guess that most of us in the Gen1/2 forum don't have much experience with a Gen3. When I was buying my Gen2 coupe, I looked at a few Gen3s that I could have bought for less $$$. But, the looks of the Gen2 coupe were far superior to the Gen3 vert...
Re: high temp silicone. Any specifics on what you guys used? When I did my high flow cats and cat back, I used a little Permatex Ultra Copper. It's rated to 700F, but at the junction to the header, it burned off, slowly. Made the damn car look like it was on fire for about a week at stop lights...
Vipers turn heads. I had a girl crash into the car in front of her while eyeballing my ride. But, I am not trashing the FGT. I would like to park one next to my GTS in the garage.
Heard a sound from the front of the car the other day while pulling up to a light. Sounded like brake noise except no screech. Headed home quick. Started it up the next day, no noise. Drove it yesterday, no noise. Today, the noise came back after a 20 minute drive, again heard when I slowed...
Take a look at this link. It gives a good overview of cryogenic treatment of steel. I'd be real careful about buying rotors of unknown origin, and treated "cryogenically" by ???? by what process. If you start with poor steel, or do improper thermal treatment, you could end up with no brakes...
