Isn't that Charlie Brown III's car? Viper-dozen engineer who designed the GTS engine?
I met him at PennState - he had a black GTS with ghost flames (visible on the front fender) and those moon wheels. I don't remember it having the front bumper aero, but that was also almost 10 years ago...
Quick Update:
The sidesills were removed with no issues (that front "PITA" screw inside the door was already gone on both sides!) and exposed the O2's, which came out almost under finger-pressure.
The plugs have been replaced. The old ones weren't bad - in fact I'm keeping them as...
DRIVE IT!!! It's a freakin' car. You try to sell a 1-of-1 car at a "specialty" price and you're going to be stuck with it. Might as well drive it and enjoy it. We live once.
Can we add option 4? "Give it to Jeff The ViperMan..."
Thanks! I didn't have that number - just his cell, which kept going to voicemail. I did finally reach him though, and I ordered my wires!
Hopefully the snake will be back on the road by Friday!
Jeff
Does anyone know what's happened to AB lately?
I spoke with him Monday, and then wednesday sent him new pics so that I could order a specific set of wires from him, and I haven't heard from him since.
I need to get new wires on the Viper before Thursday of next week!
AB!!!!
Ah - much appreciated. I have a feeler gauge with me, actually - so that'll help!! My only concern is on the driver's side beneath the hood - the previous owner added a master electrical cut-off switch and I think he used one of those bolts (actually, pretty positive of that.) So I might have...
ORDERED.
I spoke with Dan (very helpful guy - I smell a Wizard Apprentice) and did exactly that - told him what I have and he was able to offer just the right part for my needs.
At $99 a piece, that's a deal I couldn't pass up. That's probably cheaper than OE O2's at a dealership...
Grrr - I'm on DC's website and I can't find them... Links? Or I could just call...
Can you tell me more about these quick-fire O2's? What's quick-fire about them? Are these going to be plug-and-play? I'm going to get some pictures of the current setup tonight. I REALLY don't want to go...
:hail: This post has been printed...
:grumpy:
I'm not a VCA member yet... I'd gladly pay the membership, but I have to keep buying VIPER PARTS... Let me get this thing fixed and I have any money left, I'll sign up!!
Thanks all.
Jeff
Hi everyone,
I really need some help. I need to remove the sideskirt on my 2000 Viper GTS so that I can get to the exhaust tubing and primarily the O2 sensor, which is literally pointing into the front, outside corner of the skirt, behind the front tires. I can barely even see it from under...
QUICKSRT10/SRT8 - is the dealership in the same town you live in - i.e. do you live near your dad?
I see you're in Mentor - that's where my family just moved from. In fact they still have a condo there that they're trying to sell. It's possible that you're talking about the same dealership...
Well, I'd have to say that the soldering job on the harness side of the connector was done properly. It it sealed with heat shrink and has visible adhesive glue sticking out of each end of the shrink wrap. The electrical tape was just acting as loom, which I can't say is any better or worse...
Just to chime in here, I bought aftermarket O2 sensors for my 01 Stratus - they didn't have a plug, as at the time, aftermarket wasn't making specific application 02's yet. I crimped the aftermarket wires into the original wires as solder didn't stick to them (I now know why, reading this...
Here's what I learned tonight.
I got the car on some jack stands and got both front wheels off. The collectors sit just behind the wheels, and then lead directly into a bend which routes the exhaust along the sidesills. The O2 sensor is located in the bend, pointing outwards into the sideskirt...
Haha!! I was wondering on that.
Well the weather was pretty miserable here yesterday afternoon so I opted to stay home and wait for clearer skies to drive down to the garage.
Today is looking much better so I'll be tackling my "to do" list this afternoon for sure.
AB, if you see this...
Hey Dave, I'm always open to ideas. Time is something of a concern, but the biggest issue is that I have limited tool resources while I'm out here in Ohio.
One thing I could use a little help on is how to install the factory header heat shields. I HAVE them, and they're here in Ohio, but I...
If I may revive an old thread... Hey Chuck - since your Grandfather started the business in 1914 and your father took over in 1953, I have one important question...
...Do you have any children?
And that being asked, what are you plans for Tator Dodge's 100th Anniversary? That might be...
I just got off the phone with Chuck - sir you're a gentleman and a scholar.
I now have a solid "to check" list that I'll be tackling this afternoon.
Thank you.
Jeff
