I completely agree. The power is explosive...likely more TQ more down low (and total TQ) than the new Viper. I think a basic 5 pounder is in the 540-550 HP range on a GEN II...also a little higher than the new Viper. Everyday drives are probably 99% of all Viper driving. They are not that hard...
There are some in Detroit which I'm sure you could be hooked up with. I know of 2 off the top of my head. One is a GEN I with the basic 5 pounder. We have two 5 pound Roes. They are a self install kit and worthwhile doing yourself. Dick Scott Dodge in Plymouth, MI has put some on. They have an...
My wife and I have removed ours a couple times too, but I think it best to have a wrench guy for the 4 bolts and then 2 others to lift it off. I believe it is one of the most expensive pieces on the car. Doesn't hurt to have the extra hands for security. It's not very heavy and only a 5-10...
The VEC is quite easy to take apart. Pull the printed boards out, spray them up with contact cleaner, brush with a toothbrush, and put back together. Be very careful to get the lights through the face holes before screwing the case together tightly. I always keep the card slot covered with 33+...
Have a good ride Zach. Looks like a great itinerary for the day. If it's nice here, which it's looking to be around 50 and sunny -- we'll head out again somewhere.
Actually Frank, it was around 60 degrees or better down low. It was quite a bit cooler up on top of the scenery.
One Bumblebee...
We took a little ride to the northern tip of the UP Saturday and meandered about. One of several we try to do every fall…..weather permitting. There were only a few of us on this trip, but you don’t need many to have a good time. We picked up some MCVO members in Houghton who chose to exercise...
I only go to "driving school -- non -timed" events. I am covered by my insurance. I check every year to make sure I will be covered. If they were to close that window ever(as many have), I'll be done with road tracks. There is really no reason to be 'officially' timed. Someone from another run...
I completely forgot I had sent you that Eric. ....a by product of age I guess :(. Too bad we never got to meet up last winter when we were down there.
According to Sean, anyone having trouble / can't dial in cylinder trim in from the merge collector area should check the firmware package in...
I'm glad your car is running great with your tuning procedure. I still wonder if your car is the exception and not the norm? I guess Sean's the only one to answer that. What is your base injector set %? I set this first before doing any cylinder trim. I actually had to go up to 70% (from the 65%...
I guess everyone's car is a little different. Yours may well be an exception, but never the less, I guess you have to work with what you have. We have two Roe/Belangered cars. All plugs burn evenly, all O2s are now in the merge collector area. I would add that our 2001 car has a first production...
From memory, the stock header O2s are located exactly under this plate....looking staight up.... with very little clearance for the wiring out the top. My Belangers came with a bung in this same location....matching the stock location. When I tried the single tube location, I had to cut them in...
I had a driver's side O2 short out on the aluminum cover plate (removed above). The engine torques to the right and lifts slightly. The stock clearance here is very tight. I have since put some spacers under the plate....maybe about 3/16". I did both sides. Easy to do if you remove the plates...
Here’s some food for thought as to O2 placement. There is a reason why the OEM placement senses all 5 tubes. It is an average of all 5 cylinders in that bank. The PCM then takes that info and adjusts the AFR accordingly in closed loop. If the PCM can only see one tube…then that’s the only...
Before drilling I tried the single tube solution when it was first offered up....and got the same results as you.
That's a lot bigger hole than I drilled, but whatever works. Mine worked that way just fine for 40K miles. I would set an occasional heater code every 1000-2000 miles, almost...
I did it in the spring of last year . I think the IAT function works well. I now only use one card ( I used to have 3 cards for varying temps) ... tuned from 35F to 100F. The HP/TQ feature doesn't work that well...even when using as a relative tool. The IAT feature, while not perfect, is a great...
From the Fidanza site. Some may call it propaganda. I have 52,000 miles on mine, 28,000 with a blower. The friction surface is replaceable -- no grinding. Rock Auto has the stock Viper flywheel at $525. Chuck or Jon B may well be a little cheaper. I see the current Fidanza price at $415 where I...
I have run Amsoil in most of my vehicles since 1976. Nothing but excellent results. The 2000 Viper has had nothing but Amsoil front to back pretty much since new. I use oil analysis on every change. It always comes back fine for oil and gear lubes.....meaning there was more life in the oil. I...
I paid $400 for my Fidanza flywheel in 2003. I don't drag race, but I noticed a SOTP feel on the first drive after install. HP had no bearing on my putting this on the car. I bought it more for throttle response (instant revs) and road tracks (better braking). I consider it not only one of the...
That is simply not true. I 've never heard of a Roe increasing low speed bucking until this post. When I put the Fidanza on 50,000 miles ago, I did a little test. I was able to engage and move the car in 4th gear from a stop. It wasn't very hard to do at all. I have routinely started autocrosees...
Hey Mike,
You aren't implying that you get a lot of snow down there in the banana belt are you ;)
30K mile on an 03 isn't much to get on a high miler thread. :drive:
Steve
It acts as a vapor barrier to prevent moisture from being drawn up onto the car from the floor. It's a must for anything stored outside on dirt, but even inside concrete floors can give up some moisture to a warmer surface (car) above. The rational has always made sense to me and you can buy a...
I knew very little about 'sport bikes' until a couple years ago. I knew they would eat me so never monkeyed around......then I put the SC on. We went for a ride one night in 2006 and a Honda CBR kept goading, goading, goading me ;). I figured what the heck I'll give it a try. We were probably...
